From what I've read, it's no longer an option at all on the 10 speed because it doesn't generate enough heat to make it necessary.

I'm almost positive max tow doesn't include an auxiliary transmission oil cooler (air cooler). Now if I was getting a 3.5 engine I would definitely get max tow. It gives you (above and beyond the regular tow package) 36 gallon tank $445, 3.55 EL axle $470 and brake controller $275 and upgraded rear bumper. All this for $300 more than the regular tow package. All 3 of these items I purchased with my 2.7, but bought them separately. So basically the only options for me were 2.7 w/o tow package or 3.5 w/ max tow. I really wanted to try this new engine. All the owner reviews were very positive, the performance was almost identical to the 3.5, I saved ~$1800ish, get couple mpg more, torque was increased from 375@3500 RPMs to 400@2750rpms. If I was going to tow much more than 8k I would have got the 3.5. I liked it also.
