I took possession of my ordered 2017 XLT SuperCab the first week of June last year. It is sweet. I've only made a few modifications.

disabled Auto Stop/Start
removed air dam
put on after market tow mirrors
installed lighted visors with Homelink
upped # of blinks when merging to the maximum (7, I think)
installed OEM tailgate opening dampener
set powerpoint timeout to 1 second
display default tire pressure on tire pressure screen

Sounds about right. I too was having issues finding the options I wanted (sCrew, stx, 3.73s) without a bunch of extra crap. I talked to a few dealers about ordering but didn't seem like they were gonna budge past invoice. Luckily i found a dealership in the middle of nowhere that had a couple with everything i wanted and got it transported to a dealership closer to me and got it at about $1150 under invoice. Enjoy the 2.7 with the 3.73s, it'll put a smile on your face!

Congrats on the new truck!! It'll be a nice one. That Lead Foot is my favorite color, right behind Ruby Red. If the new Ranger is a truck I like, I just may get one, in Lead Foot if it's available.

Good choice. SCABS are nice for using as a business vehicle. Open up the back door and you have a working area, hidden from view. Around here its about 5-1 SCREWS over SCABS at the dealerships. I can see why you ordered.

Before next winter I plan on picking up a second set of wheels for a set of dedicated snow tires, or I'll swap the stock ones out for an aggressive all terrain and run them year round. I'll also get an Extang Trifecta before next winter--have one on my Tacoma and I like it a lot.

Other than that, most of the stuff I added to my Tacoma is factory on this truck (heated mirrors, heated seats, bed lighting, subwoofer, etc.), so not much I need to do.

I really like the flat loading floor and lack of a B pillar.

I'm a single guy in my mid 20s who doesn't want kids, so the supercab is perfect for me. Plus I'd rather have the 6-1/2 ft bed. If I got an SCrew in the 6-1/2 ft config I think I'd literally have inches in the front and back of it in my garage.

Salesman told me lead foot was originally only available on the Raptor. I've only seen one in person (that dealer had ordered it for the lot), and it's a great color!

I ordered a Scab XLT Lightning blue 2WD 302A loaded on 12/7. Shows delivery to be 2/21 on COTUS. I really didn't want a Screw since it's just me (was almost tempted to get a regular cab) and think the the Screws look like minivans and trucks combined. I also like the 6.5" bed. I had 4WD in my last half dozen trucks and never really used it so decided to try out 2WD this time. Less weight for acceleration and fuel mileage and a little lower for getting in and out of. My dealer is really nice about ordering and got invoice minus rebates minus holdback minus another 2%. I was on the fence about whether to get the 3.5, but all the discussions online seem to be very positive on this engine. 400 ft-lbs at 2750 rpms. The 3.5 is only about maybe 20 ft-lbs more at that rpm and the engine weighs more. The 470 ft--lbs isn't available until about 3500 rpms. This is probably why the general consensus is it feels a little bit peppier off the line. Also the 2.7 has a $300 rebate....not that big a deal but helps. I didn't want the 3.15 rear end it defaults to. I ordered mine with 3.55 EL and almost went all the way to 3.73. I can't imagine a 0.63 10th gear combined with a 3.15 rear end. That equates to 1421 rpm at 65mph if I did my math right. The 2017s had a 0.69 top gear with a 3.31 rear end which equates to 1635 rpms. The 2017s already ran a pretty low rpm for fuel mileage and then Ford drops it another 200 rpm.......seems too low. I guess it would downshift at every slight hill. Another thought I'd like to add about this special order is that for the first time I left off the tow package. The most important items in the tow package (hitch and plug) are already included in 302A. The items that are not included are aux transmission cooler (I can add, but I heavily suspect I will never need it), upgraded stabilizer bar (very cheap and very easy to add), hitch LED light (not too big a deal) and Trailer backup assist (had on last 2 trucks and never used......have no desire to use). So basically the $995 tow package doesn't really do anything for me. In the old days the tow package was specifically the hitch and electrical connection, but not anymore. I checked the Ford towing guide (I attached the pdf) and I still have a "tow package". I believe it is 53B. So I I'm still rated to tow the max capacity. What's odd is the pdf shows the 2.7 with any of the tow packages (53B, A or C) as not having an aux transmission cooler. I think I'll spend the $30 to upgrade the front stabilizer bar, but that's all. You might want to consider removing the "tow package" and save a grand. You are already paying for a lot of it with the 302A package and Ford gives you no discount for ordering them again in the tow package. There really needs to be a 302A/Tow package discount of $500 or more. The 3.5 can come with "max tow package" and that's a whole different ballgame. You can get a lot of nice stuff in that package that makes it worth it. I also really wanted the center console, BUT wanted the shifter up on the column out of the way. I was excited to see that this can be ordered. My last few trucks had center shifter and it was cool at first, but then practicality set in. There was no way I was going to find this truck at any dealer. Dealer is going to get it tinted, Line-X and then off to have Katzkin leather installed......might do it myself.

Hopefully all this info is appropriate here........I'll quit rambling......

I wavered back and forth on the tow package a bit. I did it mainly due to the transmission cooler but I agree it is expensive. Truck has been ordered and I am not set against the tow pack enough to try to change it. I did not have the truck ordered with the brake controller. I found out I can add the OEM one myself for less than half the cost.

For what it's worth, I have a 17 xlt 302a scab with no tow package on any part of any paper work but I do have the trans cooler. Not sure, thought it was maybe part of the 302a package.
