My thoughts: it's a bad idea , too many variables, my ignorance being one of them

Until OpenPilot is demonstrated to have a crash incidence meeting or exceeding current distracted driving crash rates or illegal alien DUI's I'd rather be surrounded by OpenPilot in southern Texas.

Ahh, Texas.

I can picture the jokes now, LOL.

Hey, give me 2 beers, one for each hand, and watch this.
With the usual results.

So, it looks the LKAS messages might not have checksums or counters. This is very intriguing.

It's not meant as a fully self driving thing. It's a L2 ADAS system that requires you to monitor the road and take over if necessary.

Little bit of an update here.. or a lot of a bit.
I have Lateral control, and have been playing with it for a while. I'm at a point where it does lockout on some harsh curves, but on gentle curves and straightaways, it drives like a dream. It took me to Denver and back, basically on its own. I think i might get to a point where it drives like Honda/Toyota does with the current Kp/Ki tuning, but seeing the results Toyota and Hyundai get with INDI tuning, I might switch my focus to there.

And I found out that you don't even need stock LKAS to issue commands. Just turn on the LKAS Enable bit in the PSCM, and it'll accept the commands. Then tap anywhere into the HS2 bus (SCCM, IPMB, or GWM). I might work on a vision based acc for the vehicles that don't have Radar ACC.

It's come a long way, but I still have a long way to go.

Default F150 Support

Hey great work here. I'd love to help out. Which models of F150 would be compatible (XL,XLT, Lariat...etc)? I looked at you readme on your git hub repo and it says only Lariat or higher? Is this still true?

I`m so old school that I don`t understand any of this. I`m still getting used to the keyless ignition.

So, I have to put that Lariat is the lowest trim supported at this moment. But yes, it'll work with XL and XLT, so long as you can flip the bit.

I am also looking into sending Active Park commands. That's how Dataspeed sends them for their commercial FSD system. I will have to intercept the PSCM and take it off the bus.

Wow I checked on openpilot ages ago and was disappointed there was no support due to the steering lockout when I had my Mustang.
im happy you're putting your effort and working on it and cheer you on. Unfortunately I'm not one familiar with such opensource or any programming.
