Sync 3 is a hardware required upgrade. Hence I'm waiting for the 16. Sync 3 system is much faster and also uses capactive screen. So the screen is much more responsive and supports multi touch which provides functionality such as pinch to zoom/etc.
There is also mention that Sync 3 will also be upgraded to support both Android Auto and Apple Carplay, both of which make the system appear to be more of an extension of your phone. This isn't possible on the older sync 2 system either.

Thanks!

I had a dealer mention the same thing when I was looking at the '15's. My guess is they are saying this because they want you to buy a '15 now instead of waiting.

Yep, sounds like a dealer being a slithery snake to me. FordService has already clearly stated on here that Sync 3 requires new hardware. Sounds like you need a new dealer or at the least a new salesman.

It would be very stupid on Fords part to not allow us to upgrade for future offerings.

I wonder how much is the dealer's 'fault' vs. Ford not training their sales team appropriately.

Hey danemv,

SYNC is has completely new hardware and software. It will not be available for current SYNC models.

centex99,

We are working with Apple and Google on implementation of Carplay and Android Auto in the future. Stay tuned.

This is hardware and software, not as simple as upgrading your brake pads.
