centex99,

We are working with Apple and Google on implementation of Carplay and Android Auto in the future. Stay tuned.

However I do believe based on what I have seen you can buy the new head unit and it will plug into the current harness that is in your truck. I hope otherwise I have to trade in a new truck for a new truck.

True. In theory it should work, after all there shouldn't be much of a difference between the 2015 and 2016 models. After market companies do make replacement head units for the 2014 F150 but in most cases it requires an additional interface and not all features will work (i.e.: Climate Control, Voice Commands, Steering Wheel Controls, Parking Sensor integration, Customizable On-screen Vehicle Information).

However I do have my fingers crossed that it is a simple plug and play but for some reason have my doubts that Ford will provide it as an option. I can just imagine the cost of the new unit as well.

Alpine makes the X009-FD2 but no mention if it works in the 2015 yet. Hopefully they come out with an X009-FD3.

Edit: Looks like this doesn't work with MyFord Touch so there goes that idea.
