At dealership about to sign on dotted line for custom ordered truck. Lariat 502a. Isn't there supposed to be a tailgate damper? When I open it by hand nothing slows it down

It's listed in the Order Guide as coming with the 502a package.

My truck is a 502a Lariat, and it takes a few seconds for the tailgate to lower itself.

See if you can get the key fob and do the remote release from there and time it. It should in NO way slam down - it should gently lower itself to horizontal.

thought damper was standard on Lariat and the "remote" tailgate drop was standard with the 502a.

ehh actually... that sounds right. I was thinking the whole remote tailgate release feature. You might be right that the damper without the release feature is standard in Lariat, I don't know that I've ever actually seen it in text anywhere in their brochures and crap so I'm not entirely sure about that one.

Regardless, he has the 502A so it should be there lol
