Default MPG???

I bought the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost thinking I would see an upgrade from my '04 Tahoe 5.3L V8. I can't seem to get anywhere near the 17 MPG city projection. Anyone else having the same issue? I don't think I have a lead foot...

? I'm getting around 19 average and 21 on trips with my 2015 5.0. Seemed to get a little better after I put some miles on it. At first it was more around 17-18. I have 9k miles on it now.

My mileage has dropped by about 2MPG in the last couple of months. Could it be winter fuel? 9500 miles on the truck at 13 months old.

There are tons of threads like this if you search around.

Ecoboost gets good mileage IF you don't kick in the turbos. Winter driving (engine has to warm up) coupled with winter gas will drop your mpgs.

I know it sounds dumb to some, and it's common sense for others, but also make sure your tire pressure is good. It makes a big difference. And pump them to 35psi when they're cold. Also, avoid the hard accelerations, like Rick mentioned, or the turbos will drink up your gas quick. Just enjoy the ride in a new truck

Speaking of common sense, there will be much greater variance on city mileage simply due to the differing traffic flow in different cities. Are we talking NY, NY or Boone, NC?

City driving is not a good way to gauge MPG. I'd suggest getting on a long stretch of highway, go about 65-70MPH and see what your highway MPG is. As long as it's 20+, you're right where majority of the people are.

There are allot of variables in city driving.

In my home area there are a ton of stop signs. Seems like almost every corner in some places. Stop lights everywhere. If all I did was drive around town I wouldnt have this truck. I get around 13mpg just driving around town. Stop and go stop and go kills your mpg.

You need to drive some freeway miles. I have gotten over 24mpg on long runs on the freeway.

I dont even consider city driving mpg. Its terrible driving around the city here.
