Morimoto XB Headlight Install - 2 Questions 1 Problem (Halos not working)
#402
Hello everyone,
I am thinking about making these my first major upgrade and I am just seeing a lot of issues on this thread. Are these just minor isolated events and this is where people come for solutions are is it really a 50/50 lottery if you're going to get a solid products for $1500 bucks?
I am also a little confused if they are plug and play what are the capacitor or connectors for? Thank you.

You are getting a superior product to anything on the truck currently.
And given our special pricing that we are offering to members of this forum (as a vendor) you are not going to pay $1500, less (but you need to contact us directly via PM or email - info@umnitza.com)
Many products that were initial installed had some issues with EMI and a couple of other questions about plugs. That is no longer the case.
We've done another install for LED fogs for the same truck this weekend and I can assure you it's pretty bullet proof as we rechecked all the installation parameters discussed on this thread and nothing really different needs to be added. The product is solid and an incredible upgrade over what you currently have (even if it's LED).

@Matty375 most are issues related to very early production and have since been fully resolved with current lights going out the door.
If you're in SC, you're more than welcome to come to our shop in Atlanta to pick up the parts directly, go over all the wiring, functions, etc together too.
While we regret seeing early customers with problems, we are thankful for all of the patience and understanding that many of these guys have extended us in getting them taken care of, and are confident they will all become problems of the past going forward.

We had a 2018+ XB headlight opened up, figured it would be useful to see whats inside for anybody curious about the little dim spot in the daytime running lights.
There are 3 separate LED PCB's that produce the white light along the outside edge. Where the edge of the light angles inwards, there is one circuit with 3 LED's on it, but between that and the fully vertical circuit board.
As some have mentioned, the little gap in the DRL may be more visible depending on your viewing angle looking at the headlight. It's not really a defect-

So that mounting point is what causes the dark spot on the halo? It drives my OCD crazy seeing that all the time when i approach my truck. Why are some lights flawless there and mine is noticeably dark there? should all be similar correct?

Thanks for the heads up. I have family in the area. Do you guys install them too?

Lots of good videos out there to walk you through it. It’s really not hard.
As for true plug and play ? It depends on your truck model. Trucks with factory Led’s do not require the extra power fuse tap. If you have halogen head lights you will need the fuse tap wire.
Other than that it’s totally plug & play.
The capicator your talking about can be bypassed. Some experienced EMI issues from the radio.
I did not have any issues on mine. No EMI or dimming issues. Ive tested two sets of headlights. I’ve had a 2016 f150 with these headlights. Currently have a 2018 with these headlights.
If your in Greenville Upstate area I can help or the Augusta area

Matt the 15-17 trucks are really super easy. Can do those in my sleep. The 18 above trucks are a little more time consuming since you have to take off the grille.

Why would you want/need to bypass the capacitor? I am a little over an hour away from Augusta. I live in Columbia, SC right now.

I have an 18 XLT so it's got the halogen lights. I was aware I had to take off the whole grill. I am not so concerned about the process of that. Messing with anything electrical just makes me nervous.
