Does anyone know what the latest map version is? My truck is a 2018 and my map version is 1.17.

1.18, as far as I know. I've never seen 1.17 before. Map updates are done every 2 years, so next one should be 1.20, but who knows when it'll be available. Since it won't be free (reportedly just one), I'm not going to update it anymore. The last update showed my home address, so don't need anymore . And we can always use Waze or Google Maps, which are a lot more reliable.

The big problem with phone based apps is I was recently in SW Texas, Big Bend area with no phone or WIFI in most areas. Other places can be spotty as well.

I am eligible for a free update but trying to decide if I should get it now or wait for a 2020 version.

Then for those areas you've got Maps.me, totally free fully downloadable and off-network usable GPS map navigation on your phone.

Simply download maps offline with Google Maps first.

Yes, using google maps works offline, you just need to download an area before traveling. All you do is zoom in/out & draw a box around the area you want (your entire county, state, etc.) and it will download all maps for the selected area.

Does it then know your position for directions or to look up POI's?
