Used to put locking lug nuts on all the cars.

Last year the stealership forgot to put the key back in my car and I didn't notice till I had a flat. I ended up using a mallet and whacked a slightly larger 12 point socket I had in the set in the SUV. Grabbed the wrench and started working. It came off. No issues at all. It literally took me two minutes from start to finish and very little effort.

By the time I got to the tire shop to have it fixed, they told me I should have called them. They have a set of hardened spline sockets on a impact wrench they use with a 100% success rate.

That is when I realized if somebody has done enough recon to want your wheels, and bring a proper fitting lug wrench, they would have seen the locking nuts and brought the extra socket and a mallet to take it right off.

Slow them down- maybe by a minute. But not much more. When I got the F150 and the wife got the Lexus they tried to push them onto us. I won't ever buy them again.

the best defense is to just keep the OEM wheels on your truck ... no one wants those!

I just attempted to install the Gorilla Acorn on my stock wheels, but they don't fit correctly. The surface area is too narrow and they bolt right through the wheel hole and onto the hub. These are the ones I got and will be returning.

Amazon Amazon

I think I need these.

The reason I want them is to get rid of the chrome capped crap that Ford installs on the OEM wheels.

Edit: Just noticed that Amazon has these, but I don't think they would look good with aluminum wheels not to mention the price.

Which OEM wheels do you have again Rem? I just put the ones you're returning on my 18" sport wheels. Actually Discount Tire did when I had them rotated but they didn't say anything.

Both sets you linked too have the 60 Degree Conical Seat. I'll have to pull one off later and see if there's any issue. Now I'm a little concerned...

I have the OEM 18" machined aluminum w/silver pocket wheels.

Both links are 60 deg but the cipony link appears to have a wider base. They are described as "factory" bulge.

I don't know about the sport wheels, so can't comment on those.

OK, thanks. I just went and took one of my lugs off and it seemed to fit OK. I see what you're saying that the base isn't as wide as the OEM lugs but mine definitely are not fitting through the wheel hole and touching the hub (or in my case my BORA wheel adapter). Ive been running them the past week w/o any issue but will keep an eye on them.

Let us know how the new ones fit.
