Really looks good.

I really don’t know.

FINALLY got my Bilstein 5100 struts delivered after 3 months. Took them to my favorite shop, and he's having difficulty installing them at the highest setting - says the spring requires too much compression to install, and even if they could, the ride would suck.

How is this mod so popular (and people do it at home by themselves) yet so troublesome?

Whats missing here? Is the ride really any worse than with 2.5" spacers?

Has the shop assembled them, yet? Do the second circlip groove from the top. 1000's of these 5100s have been sold and installed. Maybe they don't have the proper spring compressor.

Regardless, no, the ride will be BETTER. Same spring as before, much better damping. Less nose dive under braking, less body roll and less axle hop over uneven road surfaces when accelerating.

The ride will be a more firm, but not at all harsh. You will love it within just a few miles.

And be sure to seek the factory alignment specs after installation. You might need to purchase camber correction hardware, about $50 per side, one each.

it does require more compression to get them installed but once the truck is sitting on them the compression is the same as it was before. I installed mine on the highest setting in my garage with a spring compressor I bought off Amazon for like $60. If he can get them compressed enough in a shop I would worry about his competence.

Looks nice, not digging the size of the 5.0 though, looks very out of place IMO.

Needs wheels with less positive offset for that increase in ride height. Your "safety triangle" just got narrower (effectively raising your C/G even higher) using the stock wheels with that lift.

My thoughts exactly - people are doing this themselves in their garage yet a professional shop is having difficulty? Something is amiss. Turns out they had the lower spring support upside-down, which I had to show them after contacting Bilstein myself for troubleshooting. They had the instructions right there!

That right there would friggen worry me.......
I would ask them what the torque is that they tightened all the hardware to also !
If they can't read simple directions can they read a torque wrench ?
