The Motor Oil Geek on YouTube posted this:
If the link doesn't work, go to 6:18 in the video.
This is the reason I use Motorcraft Synthetic Blend, as the manual recommends.

Lake Speed Jr has the bona fides having worked with Total Seal on ring technology and Joe Gibbs racing developing their engine lubrication program.

A little research would let you know that the 3000 mile thing was marketing by Atlantic Richfield to sell motor oil. Although probably good practice then with engines and motor oil of the time, it took hold and became urban legend.

Really done quite a bit of reading of the VR&P, my 'new to me' 5.0 has 104k miles, absolutely going to switch over. Same with my 115k mile 4.6. Looks to be a proven product.
Also, 5k miles or thereabout is the sweetspot for me.

500k miles on conventional oil, no OCI noted. I wonder what it would have looked like if a top rated synthetic had been used from day one, with 5k mile OCI....

Don`t know if it is good oil or not, but the Valvoline signs plastered all over the shop might be a sign of a little bias.

Maybe because it's in the Valvoline R&D shop? L Speed tells you that in the beginning.
