Default Lariat Locking Question

I am still debating ordering a XLT 302a or a base Lariat and I was wondering about the locks and keyless entry in the Lariat. We live on a farm and often leave keys in trucks (not a good idea I know) I have heard you can just leave your keys in the F 150 XLT lock it and use the keypad to get in. Will this work with the Lariat? I'm new to this my old Tundra has manual locks and role up windows!
Thanks for the help.

Yeah you can do that with the lariat, just have to lock it with the keypad on the outside and not the remote or button inside...just press the bottom two buttons on the keypad and you're good to go (unless someone breaks into it which will undoubtedly be brought up by 20 people here telling you it's a terrible idea cause insurance won't cover it and blah blah blah)

The Lariat is going to have a push button start. The XLT is going to have a keyed ignition. You can live the fob in the Lariat, wrapped in tinfoil, and then they can't drive it away unless they find it and unwrap it (foil bag also works). Hiding the XLT key also works. But if you leave the Lariat fob somewhere, then all they need to do is get in and hit the button and go.

They could also unlock the doors just by touching the back side of the door handle. Get in, start it, no one would be the wiser.

Nope.
You have to have the fob outside to open with the handle.

Is this true? I've been leaving it under the back seat, just so it's out of range.

Yes the truck is that smart. That is why it beep beeps at you when it's running and the fob is in you pocket when you exit and close door.

I guess I'd have to learn more about how this is done before I can trust this.

as far as I know none of the intelligent access features work with the key fob inside the vehicle. at least it never worked for mine but you can leave the fob inside the vehicle and use the keyless entry pad to lock and unlock the doors

Once you lock the fob inside the vehicle with the keypad it disables the fob until you unlock it with another fob or the keypad.
