You can get a faraday cage pouch to leave the fob in the vehicle (like, locked in a console vault) and then the truck won't beep at you.

There are sensors in the doors that project outward. So having the keys inside the truck won't activate the door locks by touching the handles. This is even side specific. Have someone hold them or set them on a chair or something on one side of the truck. That door will open when touching the handle. Leave the keys where they are and walk to the other side and grab a handle. The doors won't unlock.

You have to lock the fob inside with the exterior keypad. Otherwise the truck just unlocks and honks at you when you close the door.

Dumb question. How do you purposely lock the key fob in the vehicle using the external keypad? My truck still won’t let me use the keypad to do this...it locks mometarily, then senses the fob is inside, beeps, and unlocks.

Is there a trick here I’m missing?

Should just have to press the bottom two buttons at the same time unless something changed on newer trucks. Mines a 2016 and it stays locked. I even put it in the key fob's battery is dead pocket and it still locked and stayed that way.

Hey guys, since there're a lot of Ford experts here, and I couldn't find anything in the manual, have a few questions:
1. Why my truck doesn't beep when locking and unlocking? Doesn't matter if I use the fob or the door sensors. Couldn't find any damn settings for that. Only a setting to disable auto-unlock. I wanted to disable 'auto-lock' but stupid Ford removed that for 2018. Nice.
2. My truck beeped at me twice when it was parked, and fob out of range. Is there any other reason for the double-honk other than when you try to lock the truck with a fob inside?
3. And most importantly. How do you start the engine if the fob is dead? Dealer sales manager said you can't. Makes no sense, but again, couldn't find anything in the damn manual. Lousy index, by the way. Thank you folks.

For #3: There should be a fob shaped pocket under the rubber mat in the slide storage compartment at the front of the center console. I haven't sat in a 2018 but no idea why they'd get rid of that. That would be where you place the fob to start the truck if the fob battery dies.

I'll check it tomorrow; many thanks. This is the compartment in front of the shift lever, and not the tray above the infotainment screen, correct? Thanks again.

Yes, the one in front of the shifter with the sliding cover.

For 2017 the FOB goes in the slot hidden under the rubber mat in the front cup holder to start the vehicle if the FOB battery is dead. For 2018 it is probably the same.
