Default Keypad access question

I figured searching the forum for this would be an elongated goose chase, so I'm just gonna ask.

Can I unlock the truck with the keypad IF I leave the truck running with the keys in the ignition and the doors locked? Sometimes I wanna leave it running @ convenience stores if I've got the dogs in the truck. Just don't know if the keypad will give me access back into the truck while it's running with a key in the ignition.

Yes absolutely. Great feature of these trucks. I do believe it will kill the engine after a certain amount of time so I wouldn't leave longer than just to run in a store. If you press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons together after getting out it will lock all the doors.

Gotta laugh when I see the question and then your answer. Look on OP's face would be wonderful to capture

"Right! I can try this myself and there is no risk since the window would be open..."

With FORScan you can also program the "Secure Idle"

You can leave the motor running and when you leave the truck with the fob the Truck can NOT be shifted. Stays in park. Can't be driven off.

No, it has nothing to do with locking/unlocking. Just throwing that out there as it's a feature most don't know about.

What he said. I do this every time I stop to get my mail at the post office. It will only lock the doors from the keypad with the engine running. Pressing the lock button it will automatically unlock and blow the horn twice. Saw a guy with a Chevy kind of doing the same thing. With no keypad he shut his truck off, got out, locked it, then remote started it. We simply get out push the buttons and go.

One of the reasons why I love Ford still puts keypads on our trucks

This is the closest pic I have of me making the face that I made when I read that.

This is my face when I think: "Well, that's somewhat helpful, but with all the new technology on these trucks there might be some kind of interlock that would make it react differently when the windows are rolled down as opposed to when they are up. Oh thank goodness, there's a more knowledgeable comment below it."
