No trade actually. I had visited this dealer several times and had been communicating off an on for about a month and a half. I found several other trucks that were optioned with more and listed online for slightly lower than the 39k internet price they had on their website. I think the dealer had some troubles getting rid of the 2.7EB so they were more motivated to sell. I was pleasantly surprised from an offer they sent via text.

Did you negotiate online ahead of time or give him a lower offer at dealership before finalizing that price?
Mine was 55,000 msrp and walked out at 37,800. Had spraying thrown in. If you get spraying make sure it's a ford backed company. That way it's covered by warrenty.

You can call Costco Auto and they will work with you to make sure the dealer isn't screwing you. If the dealer is a Costco approved dealer they have to order it for you, plus you will get any rebates available when you take delivery.
I want to clarify whether they are required to order it at the same price. When I worked through my bank/insurance USAA, the minute I got down there to talk about ordering, it was like "I'm the USAA (really true car) guy but I don't order cars. Talk to our order guy, who is not a true car guy." When I looked superficially into Costco (by then, we had decided to put off buying/ordering for a few months) I got the same thing, but I didn't really push it. There arguments is obviously that they want to move the metal on the lot and they're more motivated to do that, and if their policy is not sell the special orders at the same price, then it does cost them that profit they otherwise would have had. I just wonder where I could find the language.
Thanks,
Mike Todd

Let's see the window sticker on that one, for starters.

If a Costco approved dealer won't special order for you go to Costco Auto and get them involved. They will make the dealer do the special order. The dealer gets too much business from Costco and isn't going to fight it if you are willing to fight a little. Costco dealers in SE MI are happy to special order they know with the click of a couple keys on the computer they dealership can make most of the holdback and all the other hidden incentives we don't know about. You have to deal with the General Sales Manager. A normal salesman doesn't make much if any money on a Costco sale.

USAA car service is what I used to get the ball rolling on my order. 3 dealers sent me USAA (true car)certificates for trucks similar to what I wanted. One was a Joke, he was offering my a 16 for more money than the other two on 17's.

So I started E-mailing the two dealers. I let them both know my trade was a low mile 2006 Crew Cab Dually, diesel 4x4, one owner, loaded.

Well of the two dealers one gave me a 21000 offer on my truck and 3800 off MSRP. The other dealer cam back at 24000 for my truck and said they would beat USAA price on their truck. I could have it for 200 over invoice. But they also said if I wanted to order it would be 500 under invoice.

So I made appointments to go to both dealers. The one after seeing my trade said 21500 for it, and 3800 off their truck. I asked about an order, they did the build, and it was still 3800 off with incentives. Told them make sure its your best offer, as if I get a better one I won't come back to give you a chance to beat it.

Well the 2nd dealer seeing my truck gave me 25000 for it. Still at 500 below invoice, plus the incentives which is another 1275 off. Told them I had to go drive a Denali 1500 as I had done the same thing with three GMC dealers.

Denali was nice, and best deal there was better than the Ford deal due to GM having 17% off on the truck.

Went back to the Ford told them take another 1K off the new truck and I will order now. About two minuets later the manager came back said we will do 500 more off, take it or leave it. It's on order.

Some dealers are just flat out terrible. My local dealer wouldn't even go under invoice on a 64k dollar Lariat leftover 2016 in February 2017. Middle of March and they still have way more 2016s (41) than 2017s (26). Maybe they don't really sell cars and are just laundering drug money or something.

Other than the Private Offer postcard you don't really have much control over rebates. You either wait and hope they get better soon, or buy. So it really just comes down to the price of the truck in relation to invoice/holdback. Personally I think as long as you're somewhere under invoice you're not doing too bad. Sometimes getting that last $500 or $1000 of holdback isn't worth it if it means having to travel a lot further or not getting the exact truck you want or ordering vs buying off the lot, etc.

Default 2017 Lariot SCrew FX4 w/502a-3.5EB, 3.31, towing package

MSRP was 61,300 + bed liner, tint and wheel locks brought it up to 62,367. Final selling price was 54,472.

Also received 22K for a 2011 FX4 Screw trade in.

I hate buying a cars and probably could have drawn it out to get a better deal, but the 2011 was having some gear/tranny problem and I really just wanted out of it.

This thread is indeed loaded with great information.

Also has a few guys that are making themselves look silly with their ridiculous claims.

Dealers are in this to make money, not lose money. They don't give up $10K (below cost) on a truck just to make it up on the next guy. Some of the deals in this thread are straight up BS. I've bought so many cars and trucks I've lost count and quite frankly enjoy "dealing" with the dealer. I know what they've paid for the vehicle and always paid very close to that or I simply don't buy it. Posting here that I paid "X" when there's no way it happened just to make myself look like some sort of hero, is getting a bit silly.

Sorry to slightly derail but I hate to see folks not get what they want because they can't and won't end up with what they want, because of internet forum posts that are misconstrued. Don't want to argue or call anyone out, just want people to be realistic and factual.

Carry on with all the great help and information.
