Road with the tech today. Turns out he knew that there was still a noise in the truck when they gave it back to me last time. Service advisor thought I would be upset if I didn't get it back on that particular day when in fact I told him to keep it as long as he needed to get the issue fixed.
I have to take the truck back in next week because the service advisors forgot to schedule my appointment for today. So frustrating.

That sucks. Sounds like the salesman of the place I bought my truck from. Will never be buying any vehicle from that place again. The service department is 100% opposite. Great to work with and take care of you. Which is unfortunate as they will pay the price for the salesman souring people from coming there.

Will be interesting to find out the source of the noise. I thought for sure my 2016 had an IWE issue. After some extended diagnosis/testing, the front diff. was rebuilt. That was at 34k miles. Noise, which was more like the buzz of aggressive off-road tires, is finally gone.

Now buzz like feeling and noise is back....shame i love this truck but bought it used with 30,000 miles thankfully have full warranty to 92,000 and Im at 86,000. My plans were to run it up to 200,000 miles I do a ton of hwy driving, but not sure I can now...

To me it is strange to have a front diff issue because historically it seems rare. It looks like the 15+ trucks are not imune.

No, it's sold as an assembly. They are around $250 each, I just replaced 2 of them.

Got the truck back from the dealer last night. They had it most of the week. They replaced the right hub also. The noise is definitely reduced but not gone. Engaging 4A makes the noise stop. I asked last time if the tech checked to make sure truck was pulling enough vacuum to disengage the IWE. He claimed he checked it. I think it's time to go to a different dealer.

Default Same here

Same light growling noise here as well.
Sometimes switching the 4wd selector will eliminate the growling.

iwe

vaccuum line thing under hood.

Im leaning towards cv joint, but who knows.

Was that both IWEs? Or just one?
Please tell us year, trim level.
