Try pulling the power on the solenoid to lock in IWEs, and drive it in 2H, trying to isolate the Transfercase right now.
Did you try it like this? Pulling the lines off at the IWE's would do the same, but why crawl under when you can just pull the power under the hood.
I'm an olde guy, and do what's easiest.
I screwed up the prior post I made editing instead of copying.
I haven't done this yet, but will. Busy day today, but I hope to get to it.
Is the fuse or solenoid defined in the owners manual? I dont have a shop manual (yet) to locate it.
Thanks
Here's a photo of my truck. Just follow the hose with the black and white checkvalves, down to the lower right corner. It connects to the solenoid, power connection is at the top of solenoid.
When you shift to 4A, the IWEs will lock in, so I'm not thinking a vacuum problem. You say it still drones off/on in 4A with on/off of the gas. Bad CV? Something in the front diff? I'd have the dealer check it out further.
Does it still do it in 4H?
