Default Interior trim differences

This thread is questioning the silver trim pieces in the following locations: surrounding each front vent, on each door handle, surrounding the rear-facing vents, and surrounding the shifter area.

I have a Lariat right now that has the bright silver, plastic trim. I am looking to upgrade to the aluminum trims. Does the aluminum only come on the Limited trim level? It it dark grey? Some close up pics of Limited owners would be great. Some discussion of these interior trim pieces would be great in helping me make a decision.

I believe the Limited trim pieces are aluminum, are dark grey, and are expensive. I did a search for them on a Ford dealer's website and the total for all 10 of these pieces was about $630!!!

Can you confirm if the pieces are in fact aluminum? Or are they still plastic?

They are wrapped pieces of metal.. so far both front vent pieces and the back of the center console on mine had to be replaced by Ford because they were peeling. There is a lighter color metal underneath.

Do the Platinums have different color metal trim?

I thought the Platinum wasn't metal? I thought that only the Limited trim had the metal and everything else was plastic? While the metal would be nice, it is really more the dark grey brushed finish I would like. Would it be possible to take my existing bright silver pieces and just have them painted?

That's a bummer that the Limited pieces are just a wrapped piece. You'd think they'd put more into them and make them actual brushed aluminum...

It appears this has been answered already. I wasn't sure what they were made of.

The 2018 Limited trim is 100% metal... I have the steering wheel on my Lariat. The center console and the trim around the air vents front and rear are also both metal. The only plastic parts on the Limited are the door handle surrounds front and rear. However... there are two different patterns, one is a straight brushed pattern the other is a cross-hatch pattern. You can see the cross-hatch on the 2018 Limited wheel below. This is where it gets tricky... some of the "2018" Limited parts are not cross-hatched and others are, and they share the same part numbers.

There's a thread that discusses all this (Limited trim discussed starting around post#73): https://www.f150forum.com/f118/repla...atinum-323391/

Platinums have a lighter color and limited has a darker aluminum color. Door and dash bezel are plastic, just different shade.

Lariat2015,
The trim is rather pricey, I paid close $1000 for the complete Platinum package. I would not bother with Limtied trim, as Biernut posted above, you'll get different patterns, it changed for 2018. I tried ordering the trim for Limited and got a bunch of diiferent shades and patterns. Some 18' and other 15-17' which were darker.
