Nobody knows the answer can you leave the fob in the truck or not??

Also when hooking up trailer using zoom on backup camera as soon as go to neutral or drive can not use zoom until put in reverse again! Not a huge deal but a little more control of this system would be nice. Have camera on delay.

Plus took the boat and trailer for a ride today and the truck used engine braking which was a surprise!

Have Viper SmartStart installed "professionally" some quirks with it also:
Lock and unlock work great until started from App then don't work and will not work until truck is started "normally".
Panic button and tailgate release do not work at all.

Used to have a normal truck but if have bells and whistles want them to work! Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. I leave my keys in the truck all the time and lock the truck with the number pad. Have not had any issues with it draining the battery.

Is there any difference between locking the truck from the number pad vs the button on the handle (which is what I usually do)?

Nothing other than with the key pad you can lock it without the fob on you.

Thanx...
Dealer service writer says I'll have battery issues down the road not sure that is accurate info as have had different info from others who are in the business. Does the truck's computer go to sleep or keep looking when fob is in the truck. Hopefully Ford rep will answer as we live in Maine and -20 can be hard on the battery even without extra load.

Camera is in delay mode. It will not allow zoom mode when out of reverse goes back to"normal mode" with zoom option grayed out. Just wish a little more control but it still works pretty good. Guess getting very spoiled

I'm fairly sure that unless you tell the truck you are there, e.g. touch the door handle or press the button on the door, the ECU isn't going to respond. When you touch the handle to open the doors or press the button to lock the doors it tells the truck to send a signal out to search for the fob to see if it's the right one to unlock or lock the doors. So leaving the fob in the truck isn't going to do anything to the truck's battery. Now leaving your fob in the truck in sub zero weather might drain down the fob battery but you can always use the keypad to open the doors and then put the fob in the hidden compartment since that's where the sensor is and unless the fob battery is dead the truck should work until you can get a new battery for the fob.
