Default Help with backup camera

New here, but this seemed like to place to go for some help.

I recently purchased a 2016 F150 XLT and I can't figure out how to turn on the backup camera. The weird thing is, there aren't any camera options in the vehicle menu like what's shown in the manual. The camera is there, it's wired up, but no options on how to turn it on.

Any ideas on what's going on or is it something I have to load a pile of cash in the bed and take it to go get robbed by the dealership?

Any advice is appreciated!

The camera doesn't turn on when you reverse the truck? You can see the camera in the tailgate? How do you know it's wired up?

Camera turns on when truck is shifted into reverse. If you don't have that, it's no working. Either bad camera or wiring.

Odd that there are no camera options per OM. Are you sure it is wired up? Could be that the previous owner thought it would be simple to add the camera after-the-fact, but found out it is more complicated than that. If your truck did not originally have a camera you need to add the IPMB which is mounted behind the center console.

Merc- how can you check the IPMB?- Texas Fording ran the vin on my ‘15 - it was built with a rear camera, but im having the same issue- nothing happens- no twitch, no blue screen, nothing- He can hook me up with an upgrade to a larger display, but im stubborn and i dont want to pull the trigger on that yet, id like to see the original work first!

No it doesn't turn on when put in reverse.

Yes the camera is very obvious in the tailgate handle.

I know it's wired up as I disassembled the tailgate and verified the wiring harness was connected and traced the wires up until they joined a bigger wiring harness near the transmission.

Unless they wire up cameras in all F150s and just don't add the hardware in the cab, I just don't know. I just find it very strange that this is a 2016 F150 XLT, much more new and advanced than my old trucks, and it would have no backup assist whatsoever when even (camera or beeper) whereas my 2006 Expedition XLT and my 2005 F150 XLT both had at least the audible beeper warning.

Have you confirmed that there is an IPMB Module in the truck? They don't install them at the factory if there is no rear camera. They often use wiring harnesses that have wires for options not installed.

There is a rear camera installed as well as the appropriate wiring harness. As for the IPMB, I haven't pulled the dash apart to check if it is there yet, instead I'm going to try and check on FORScan and see if it's there, and if so, if the camera is just turned off in the software. I just have to wait for my OBD cable to arrive.

if you only have a rear camera, you won’t have a IPMB.
