Default Help! About to pull the trigger!

Hello all! I'm a new user here, and looking to pull the trigger on a new 2015 F150 (First time truck owner!! )

So, I've been hemming and hawing about pulling the trigger now for a couple months. I'm just wondering what are your thoughts on this build. I live in Atlantic Canada, so it will be used in all sorts of conditions haha

Here is what my build is:

2015 F150 XLT
5.0L V8
FX4 Package (Locking axle ratio pending - 3.31 or 3.73)
Basic 300a Power Equipment Group
Spray-In Bed Liner
Vinyl Flooring
Remote Start
Heated Mirrors (Not sure weather to get this or not)

Here is the pricing I got from my local dealer:

MSRP $46499
I can get it for $39000

Tax here is 13% (So brutal...)

Looking at ~ $44K tax in

What are your guys thoughts on this? I think it is a reasonably good deal, but just need another opinion on it!

Also, what are your thoughts on 3.31 vs 3.73 axle ratio? (Iv'e done some research but don't have a lot of knowledge on this)

Heated mirrors? Yes or no? Probably come in handy in the winter time.

Any suggestions/comments will be helpful!

Thanks

Heated mirrors should be mandatory in Canada, especially Atlantic Canada...so hell yes get that.

3.31 vs 3.73? A little better gas mileage vs a little better get up and go, your choice.

For the remote start i would go with the long range[1000 ft]. It will start through walls. The standard remote start not so good.

As far as the deal goes, $4500 rebate from Ford, $1000 Costco (after tax) right now in Canada. Check car cost Canada or unhaggle.com for invoice pricing. You will probably find about a $5000 dollar mark-up (avg) but this varies by trim and options. So you can probably do a little better

Heated mirrors for sure!

About the axle ratio, check in the Specifications section on Ford's web site with your configuration and compare the towing and payload ratings based on the axle ratios and pick the one that suits you best. I picked 3.73 in my last two trucks because I pull a travel trailer on long rides which is why I bought the truck in the first place. So, what will YOU do with your truck? Answer that and you should know what to pick. Worst case, if you are still uncertain, go in the middle and get the 3.55!

If I were you, I would consider getting a rear view cam especially that it is your first truck.

Good luck with your purchase, you will certainly love your future truck...

When I buy vehicles new I don't even look at MSRP. It means nothing. I only look at invoice. And then I take the rebates off of that and that's my offer.
In my experience I have found that a email to their internet department with the exact options I want always results in a invoice offer when they reply. No haggling needed.

3.55 for mileage
3.73 for power and load

Thanks for the responses fellas!

So, by the looks of it ill go with the:

Heated mirrors
3.31 Axle (I will not be doing any major towing)

As for the remote start, is there different options? Didn't notice that when building on ford.ca

Now, the pricing.. So, I visited unhaggle.com (never knew this existed) and a certified dealer got back to me today. The "invoice" price they gave me is $39899.

So, in this case archer75, you would expect $39899 - $4500?? (rebates right now)

I think that is pretty unreasonable... but what are your thoughts on this guys?

Any comments are appreciated. Thanks again for all the help!

It's hard to say from my experience, because here in CS, it's hard to get any kind of "great" deal on a new F150. Ford wasn't offering much in rebates, nor do they want to budge much on price because they sell so well. I ended up with a 2014 for the better dealers. That said, the 2015s are REALLY nice, and if you can get a good deal on them, do eet! It doesn't look that is a bad deal though.

Long range remote start would be nice. Heated mirrors I could live without, but it's been many years since I lived in the north, so maybe time has tarnished my memory on that one

Yes that is how it works, a "good deal" would be invoice minus all applicable incentives offered at time of order or time of delivery (but not both). Rebates ($4500) do not come out of the dealers "profit". This money comes from Ford of Canada (or Ford USA). So in your case, $39,899 - $4500 = $35,399 plus applicable taxes and fees. This would probably be a best case scenario providing the dealer sells at "invoice" As I said before, in Canada there is an approximate $5000 between "invoice" and "MSRP"
Good luck in your negotiations
