Just returned from a 1600 mile trip all good. Today went on a small 30 mile trip got a harsh downshift like I ran over something. Then happened again not as harsh in less than 3th of a mile. Has never done til now. Looks like there is a tsb for harsh downshifts. Tried to duplicate on the 30 mile drive home never did. But is that what you guys experienced everyday or was it sparattic? Anyone had tsb that can report back with some mileage after it has been done? Thanks!! Now at 2290 miles .

I had harsh 5-4 down shift while very lightly accelerating at around 30mph after coasting down to 30. No problem after TSB and transmission shifts much nicer going up and down the gears. If your truck fits the TSB time frame get it done.. Oh watch for the check engine light on the way home from the dealer.. If you get one turn around and go back and tell them to finish the job...

Not everytime,, but often enough to worry me.. Try and get your dealer to do the update,, can't hurt..

The TSB update is definitely worth it. It will fix the problem.

Does your issue have to be repeatable for Ford to perform the TSB? Or will just advising them of the issue allow them to do it? Mine seems to occur occasionally.

They said they would do today with just me taking tsb in. Looks like most people had no trouble aftwrwards.

Does this happen to you while in 'Sport' mode?
My XLT 4wd SCrew occasionally does this while in 'Sport' mode only.

Had the TSB done as I was getting the hard 5-4 downshift when slowing down. Did a recent 800 mile round trip with cruise, going 65 down a very steep hill, truck slammed into 4th in an attempt to maintain the set speed. Taking it in this week. Different scenario, but much, much harder downshift.
