Default Halogen headlights..Alternative

As been mentioned in previous threads, the factory lights (halogens) are pretty bad. I've been searching this thread and the internet for an alternative to the factory halogen lights. I don't want to install LEDS, HIDS or a kit but I do want to put in brighter halogen lights. Does anyone recommend a brighter halogen bulb that has a decent longevity? I like the bright white look.
Thanks in advance!!

Whatever brighter Halogen you obtain will use more power and shorten the bulb life. They are easily found, not all a benefit in spite of advertised claims, and carry a premium price. Why no LED replacement?
Pre-cocieved beliefs of poor performance? High cost? Something else?

Quality tested LED's are now available, yes $$$, but use less power and have excellent patterns. KM

High cost and installation. I want to go with LEDS. Would I need to make any mods if I go with the LED choice? A ballast or anything? Or is it just disconnecting the old bulb and connecting the LED? Will I still be able to keep the dust cover?

Your original question was answered. Luckily 2017bluetruck questioned you about it because he is correct in his statements. Go look at f150leds.com

somewhere here I found this info but I'll be damned if I can find it again.
I did save some of the info...I didn't come up with this, this is all copy and paste
I bought the bulbs and made the conversions but I haven't installed them yet.

Our truck uses a H11 bulb for low beam, 9005 for high beam & a 9140 for fogs. Now with a little modifying to the new high & low beam bulbs, you'll have double the light output from OEM replacement bulbs. It goes like this, replace your H11 with a H9 bulb, replace your 9005 with a 9011 & take your 9005 bulbs & put them as your fog light bulbs. Here's why:
Stock H11 = 1,350 Lumens
Replacement H9 = 2,100 Lumens
Stock 9005 = 1,700 Lumens
Replacement 9011 = 2,350 Lumens
Stock 9140 = 600 Lumens
Replace with your 9005 = 1,700 Lumens
These are all basic OEM replacement bulbs by Philips. You can pick them up off of Amazon for about $50-$60. I'm not going into detail, just Google H11 to H9 Mod & 9005 to 9011 Mod. Some might say you could possibly melt your fog light housing using the 9005 bulb, I'll be the test subject since no one has tried this in the new fog light housings yet. You could always upgrade from a 9140 to a 9145 if you wanted for the fogs.

I think they last forever..
but I don't know

no seriously, I think I read somewhere that they will last years just like the stock factory bulbs, because they are stock factory bulbs for a lot of vehicles already. They don't pull any more, or very little more power so you don't have to worry about replacing fuses or the tiny wires. It seems that they just work.
Like I said I'm a believer but I haven't gotten around to installing them yet. Hopefully sometime around Christmas I might get a free minute or two!

Check out headlightrevolution.com. They carry GTR CSP Mini LED Bulbs that are made to fit just like a halogen bulb. I bought a set of “Perfect Fit” LEDs from them last year and they have been awesome.
