I like the ride on my 4600’s. They were already on the truck when I bought it so nothing to compare to. Pull a 6000# camper as well as hauled a load of cast iron drums to the recycler.

I had my front Bilstein 5100's installed at On Point Performance in Glendale. These are the guys that do all the install videos for Stage3 Motorsports, so in talking to them and their experience, I trust that they know what they're talking about. The guy told me that every time he does one of those setups, it falls perfectly within spec, so he stopped charging for alignments. The install cost me $350. I have to believe him, since I've seen no significant or abnormal tire wear since the install.

I've been happy with my 4600s on the rear, they are a marked improvement from stock. What didn't you like?

The Fox 2.0s are progressive vs the digressive Bilsteins. The 4600s are going to be a lot closer to the 5100s than the 2.0s would be. 2.0s are good shocks but whether or not you like them depends on what you are looking for in a shock, they are not really direct competitors to Bilstein.

I feel every crack in the road. And when hitting a large hole or whatever they don't even dampen that near what the 5100's did. The 5100's were firm and delivered a single click with road items but really handled potholes and such similarly and totally dampened things. I was hoping for the soft OEM ride but with improved control with the regard to leaning on turns or bouncing a few times on large objects.

I had heard the fox 2.0 were OEM on 2022 limited and raptor and really delivered a nice ride on those.

See revision below as the 4600's installed initially were the wrong model

does it matter on the rear if the shock has the boot on top or bottom. I've observed both installs and assumed it made no difference.

The boot is installed down. You should be able to read the Bilstein decal on the shock the right way.

I want to correct this post as the body shop had put 2019 model 4600's on and even though they fit, Bilstein informed me the valving was quite different and to switch. The shop sent me the correct 2021 model and WOW what a difference. Now very, very pleased!

Dear wkk1:

Where would you reccommend to get shocks done on a 2001 150 Ford Lariat? Thank you for any answer.

No specific recommendation but basically any of the larger tire shops as its an easy process. You may have to realign your front end afterwards
