Default BFG KO2 275/65r20 vs 285/65r20

Getting ready purchase new tires for my birthday. I've searched the web pretty extensively and have really only found one thread, it's on this forum, that talks about these two tire widths and the brief consensus was 275's rode more rough. Other than that, I can't find anything else.

Those who have ran or are currently running either of these tire sizes, what are you impressions? I've run the KO and KO2 on previous vehicles but not this large or E rated.

I have an 18 3.5 eco with 3.55's. My hesitancy with the 285 is Increased weight and loss of power. Thanks for y'alls help.

You will get better mpg with the 275 vs the 285. I swapped my 285/55/20 to 275/60/20 I know it's not apples to apples but it rides a lot better.

The 275 rode better than the 285? Interesting. Thanks for the input.

Go with the Nitto ridge grappler 285/70/18. It’s 34x11.5 and only weighs 60 lbs.

I have 20" wheels. Sticking with the factory wheels.

I went with Ridge Grapplers on my truck at 275/65/20. They are E range tires and you and I have the same suspension mods you do and I don't think the truck rides rough at all. I know you're looking at the KO's but I can't see how there would be much a difference since both are E range tires. Compared to the stock Hankooks that had very little sidewall, I think the truck rides just as good as it did before and maybe better. I was worried about the heavier tire riding poor but that is not the case. Now, I did take a hit on fuel economy but I still get 16 mixed driving and can pull about 18 on the highway.

Thanks for the response. How did affect power going from a 55 to a 65?

A slightly taller tire with less tread should ride a little better.

I run two sets of tires with one of them the KO2's at 285/65/20. I've never felt they run as rough/hard as some have indicated but they will cost you at least 1 perhaps 2 mpg in fuel loss.

How do you feel the 285 affected performance?

You can "feel" the extra weight of the tires but as far as performance I don't think it made enough difference to be a consideration. The 3.5TT will still light them up with very little effort.

I do have a Livernois tune, but with the 10 speed unless you're drag racing I don't think it would matter.
