FORScan - software to enable/disable features in your truck
#41
I have been following this thread and think I know what I can do to my XLT 302 with navigation. Which are as follows:
Add Seat Heater Buttons and Climate Controls with limited function
Enable Trailer Brake Controller (Once installed)
Are those two above the simple enable disable method or is more complex? I have also heard peoples say that you can do something to navigation to be able to add an address while in motion, but did not see if that was ever confirmed. Also I know people don't like the sound enhancement feature and turn it off on the higher end trucks, but is it possible to turn it on, on an XLT? Is it setup for it? Any other ones that I am missing? Going to give it a try this weekend. Thank you in advance!

I was nervous to try using this software as although I'm enough of a networking geek to manage IT systems for my clients, I know nothing about programming (a dark art, in my opinion). Although I may well have missed it, I also did not find a step-by-step procedure to make the one change I wanted to do. But, as it turns out, it was pretty easy.
I used the latest version of the Windows software on a Surface/Windows 10. For an ODB connector, I used a wifi connector I bought on Amazon, "Foseal wifi Interface." Worked perfectly.
I have a Lariat with the 502A option w/Navigation. Everything I wanted works perfectly. The only thing I wanted to modify was the Climate Quadrant. Mine's a Sept '15 build, and apparently Ford deleted the seat heat/cool buttons leaving only the wheel heat soft button. Looked funny off to the side, all by itself.
Connected the software and made the one change to the IPM module (not sure if that's the right name or not ... I don't remember and I didn't take a picture). Clicked on the write button. A pop up in the program told be to cycle power in the truck. I did and was nervous for a while ... my SYNC display was black instead of the usual white startup screen. After a few seconds, it came up with a "SYNC is doing routine scheduled maintenance" screen with a progress bar. After it finished, it rebooted and my climate screen now has a full bevy of buttons! All worked as they should.
One thing I did not see was a simplified interface with Enable/Disable options. Everything I saw was (probably) hex boxes, so to enable the soft buttons I had to change a certain box to read A6D7 instead of A4D5. Probably I messed something up in the app, but it all worked fine!!
Thanks to those who developed and simplified this process enough that I could do it!!
Cheers!!
