Dynamic Endstops
Hmmm...
I'd like to jump up and down and say Livnitup's latest work deserves more attention
and praise.
It's really great, I think there are some real gems hidden in plain sight from what I've just looked at. I'm away from home for work and can't try any of this stuff for a while, but here are my thoughts on his recently posted data.
After looking at Livnitups updated info and rereading the owners manual again and service bulletins on EPAS, I though about what a few of these data points could translate to for real world driving and I have a few question here for myself to try in the future or for others to try in a safe location on their own.
1) According to the owners manual on page 244 EPAS works in conjunction with the ABS module to determine if advance stability control should be automatically enabled when needed even if the traction control is off. I know many F150 owners despise of Ford's automatic traction control re-engagement the moment they turn the wheel. I'm inclined to think if we disable traction control (TSC) in EPAS that will prevent the algorithm from working which would ultimately permanently disable traction control. Personally, I like traction control and I have no reason to test my theory, but it seems well within reason and I know if it works whoever proves it (if it is possible) will become and F150 Off-Road Rockstar. It may also require TSC to be disabled in a few other modules as well, but I suspect disabling it in EPAS alone might suspend the auto reengagement part of the system everyone hates so much (the bit of code which automatically engages traction control even after the traction control off button is pressed or Advance Trac spot mode is enabled).
2) If we enable backup camera in EPAS is that the key to getting the projected backup turning radius lines to appear in Sync 3? I always thought it was an unknown parameter in the IPMA's and IPMB's but maybe it isn't there after all. Maybe the key to turning it on is part of EPAS. I haven't been able to find a way to enable it in non IPMA / IPMB equipped Sync 3 vehicles yet.
3) Do mustangs have personalization enabled in EPAS? does it work in tandem with the IPC to allow the user to select sport and comfort steering?
4) For F150 owners who love auto start stop, by disabling start stop in EPAS it may allow start stop to engage while the steering wheel is at an angle (assuming start stop system is enabled). Personally I loathe Auto Stop Start and I see it as a way to make an incredibly bad feature monumentally worse, but it still seems like something that is possible now that it has been mapped out. Maybe some start stop loving environmentalist might have a practical off-road use for it.
5) WTF is dynamic end stops? Is it part of 4A on Lariats and up that prevents hub wear? is it only enabled on 4A and or 4H trucks? Can we squeeze a tighter turning radius out of our trucks if we drive in 2H and disable this? My 2014 F150 has EPAS and has a significantly tighter turning radius, which is why I am bringing this up.
6) Look over the new mappings again and evaluate old pages in this thread to see what else could be hiding in plain sight.
The first time I encountered pull compensation on an EPAS enabled 2016 F150 I thought the steering was out of alignment having just sold off my 2010 F150. I brought the new truck in for service checks a few times before I knew what EPAS was or understood how it adapts the steering load on the fly. At first it drove me absolutely nuts. Now I'm used to it. But for the record, that is what drove me to learn about EPAS in the first place. I think the system could benefit from some volunteer testing.

Hi all,
First time diving into Forscan. I see there is an option to change DRL to high beams. I am wondering if anyone has done that change for DRL to high beams and does it reduce the power to high beams or only low beams. I plan on changing my low beams and fog lights to LED and prefer not to use them for DRL's.

Will FORscan test the Module that controls the seat heaters to see if I have a bad heater?

Yes there is a test for the SCME module if you have lariat and above for heated /cooled . XLT you need the test the FCIM module. Also check for DTC you should have one on the seat heater if there is an issue.

Never done a module test with Forscan. How is it accomplished?

Is there a way to increase how long the cargo lights stay on with the unlock of the key fob? (2017 XL with 101A and trailer assist package) I looked through the spreadsheet and did not see it.

Any way of getting the interior courtesy lamps to shut off as soon as you put the vehicle in gear? It is annoying waiting for the lights to do the slow fade to black especially at night when you are ready to roll and can't see out the window until the lights are out.
