I hope Lucas8888 is okay. I tied reaching him a few ways over the last two months and heard nothing which is abnormal. Does anyone know if he is alive? All of his online content such as how to install pro trailer backup assist or install the 360 camera system has been pulled. I hope Ford didnt unleash their legal team on the guy. Does anyone here have a copy or cached version of those how-to documents?

He is still around, if you check on his profile page it shows he was logged in a few days ago. As for his online content - I do not know the reasons that he decided to pull them, but I can tell you thru conversations with him that he does not want his tutorials shared any longer. That being said, the "right" thing to do is to honor his request & not give that info out. After I had completed the tutorials, I deleted my copies so I wouldn't have them to share if asked

I certainly don't want to sidetrack this thread but I can tell you I have had several dealers from across the nation contact me about the power fold mirror retrofit document. A very small qty asked me to clarify a couple of items. However, the vast majority requested me to pull the document as their Sales and Service Depts. have been called out by more than one buyer/customer that asked for power fold mirrors to be installed on an XL or XLT trim vehicle and when the dealer said it wasn't possible, the prospective buyer/customer pulled out the document. Needless to say, those dealers weren't very happy.

I think the sales & service departments of those dealerships should vent their frustration toward Ford since it is something that can be accomplished with OEM parts, programmed with IDS and the retrofit addresses legitimate concerns of owners and fleet managers..

Agreed, but then those same dealers wouldn't be able to coerce uneducated prospective buyers into buying a higher trim level than they actually want or need. It's all about the $$$s.

Precisely. It's deceitful, dishonest and unethical. Nothing more nothing less. All about the $

I can easily honour that request. The systems we all post about modifying I think have a certain minimal potential to expose us to unwelcome legal liabilities, but the potential is there nonetheless. My guess is some entity is after him for something. At least now I know he's okay, which is the only question I had sent out in my PM.

I respectfully somewhat disagree. You cant add a leather dash or twin panel moon roof with a piece of software. Sales people can still up sell trims, they just have to find better talking points like the fact it is almost always more cost effective to add the fancy tech options at the dealer than try to install it yourself. It is no secret Ford employees everywhere read these posts. This thread didnt reach over 2 million views by us.

I actually know of Ford sales people that use ForScan to cheat their own dealership service departments out of revenue by routing accessory install programming costs through their own department. Those people are here reading this thread as guests and someday they might be caught and end up with no job, but thats not my problem. It is just one example of how this topic can cause conflicts for people and bring unwelcome pressure upon Ford department managers.

Did Lucas8888 have a document on his google drive for power fold mirrors? I thought that was published by someone else.

I mentioned this before a long time ago. But I think this whole ForScan thread deserves to be copied and saved somewhere. Google web caches (as proven by the Mustang Sync 3 thread and the F150 carplay thread) dont last forever. We have seen two really great Ford forum troubleshooting threads disappear this year.

I need some help with the factory ambient lighting in my '17 XL. I have finished the wiring install but I can't for the life of me understand where I'm failing. The APIM portion is good, menu option shows up and works, but I still can't get the BCM to cooperate. There are 2 lines to change, 31-01 and 39-01, both I have done. I'm still not getting the 12v power and I'm pretty sure the data signal isn't there either. Followed by a module reset but still no luck. Can anyone help me figure this out?
