Default Forscan Alternative

Just a little information in case anyone is interested. I utilize a Maxisys Pro at work and it indeed has no problem programming our trucks. Here are a couple of pictures just looking at add subwoofer options.

For those who don't know, a Maxysis is a professional scan tool that plugs into an OBD2 port. (About $3000 so it's an expensive alternative unless you use it to MAKE money.)

Cheers,
Doug

Thanks for the $3000 option over my $60 option. I'll keep it in mind.

Nice to know there's a backup plan.

Lol. I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to invest in the Maxysis just to program their truck. However, these tools are showing up in many aftermarket shops. I for one, would have no problem plugging into someone's truck and helping them out.

What's the advantage over using Forscan?

I'm not sure that I would consider this an "alternative" to Forscan.

Could you look at the power steering and see if there is a way to adjust the harder to steer at speed?

I might be willing to spend $3000.00 to lighten up my steering effort..

There isn't really any advantage other than I already have one. The Maxysis feels less invasive but that's about it. Very user friendly.

Really, the reason I even posted this is to let people know that many shops out there are capable of programming or trucks. So if someone doesn't feel comfortable using Forscan they have other options. Options even the dealerships don't even seem to know about or at least aren't sharing that they do.

If you use a shop for any service, simply ask if anyone there has an updated scanner with programming capabilities.

I didn't see anything speed sensitive steering adjustments. Next time I'm in there I'll take a closer look but I'm pretty sure I'd have seen it.

I wonder if Maxysis and Forscan read the cars memory stack/values in the same order. (a loop is a loop)In another words, is there a correlation between programs were one displays the hexadecimal and the other GUI? That could expose the options as well as the values.

I agree. There are some cool options available.
