Floor Shifter Conversion?
You would be venturing into the unknown trying to convert your truck to a push button. The two systems are nothing alike and changing that over would require addition parts for the system to communicate with the truck. It was more of an uncertainty than I was willing to take.
Counter to the OP's preference, I like the Ford column shifter better, it has a stronger "spring" action and click into places very "deeply". It takes some muscle and you know it won't frail on you over time. The floor shifter, however, is the opposite (all Ford floor shifters are like this, in the past 15 years), #1, the gears are in a straight line, so if yanked to fast you are all the way to M or 1. #2, the "click in place" feel is just weak, there's a technical term for this, indent? detent? If it's not for the silver button, the shifter could easily shuffle back n forth into wrong places. I wonder if the plastic structure in the module could be replaced with stronger parts to strengthen the floor shifter's resistance.

but as far as your #1 I have found the exact opposite.
Several times before I swapped the shifter out I would pull down on the column shifter and inadvertently go into manual mode, not realizing it until the engine had revved well past what would have been the shift point in "D"
I have not once put the selector into "M" by mistake since changing to floor shift.
As said before though, it's a matter of preference... if it works for you/them that's all that matters
Forerunner, I certainly hear you. Had the same experience pulling the column shifter down too much. Had a RAM with column and it was very "easy yanking", I was never accurate with first try. The floor shifter could be more controlled if it's more "springy", that's all I was saying. The pre-2014 trucks had that friction sound, as if plastic is rubbing plastic, but they eliminated that in the 2015 leaving only the click action. More high quality feel but less resistance.
Since I traded my newer XLT to an older (2015) Platinum, I kind of forgot how the shifter is supposed to operate, can someone tell me if it's broken?
The silver "trigger" on the front, does it control the movement between all the gears or only between P and the rest? Today I moved it from P to R, then from R to D. P to R required pressing the trigger, but from R to D or from D to M, the trigger wasn't needed?! Is my button broke?

I agree everyone has their own preferences, and that's a good thing....

The "trigger" is used to take truck out of park - you can then move through R-N to D without pressing again... Once in "D" the trigger must be pressed to move selector in either direction
I wanted to throw in my two cents. I recently did this conversion and will be posting it on my build. I wanted to inform everyone that LKQ recently purchased approximately 50 NOS consoles for the 2016 XLT premium trim. They are selling the consoles complete for $205. They come with all the harnesses even the USB harness. This is much more affordable and more plug and play than purchasing all of the components. You will still have to make sure that you have the 302A harness or install it. Also, they do come with the red stitching.
