Factory order - error
I'd worry about it being a unicorn or seriously modded truck when you get ready to sell/trade it. It would look very suspicious and some would have to wonder what was behind all the changes.
Smart move would be a hard pass. I see nothing but headaches for every warranty claim down the line, not to mention issues if you decide to trade it in.
Oh the rattles you will have.
If you do decide to take it hope it all works out for you.

I had ordered the old 2015 Dodge Dart Limited as a factory order.
When it came in it took me a week to realize that the HVAC controls were for a single zone instead of the dual zone it was supposed to be lol
Dealership almost didn't believe me till they saw it.
Seems it can happen to any brand.

Had that happen 2 years ago on the wife's 2017 Edge Titanium. She will not have a black interior, not at any price .
So when I ordered it I emphasized repeatedly, white leather interior only. So then when it was ready to ship (from Canada), I finally got the VIN.
Thanks to this forum, I knew how to view the sticker, and, of course, the interior was black. So down to the salesman, and the first thing I asked him was if he remembered what interior I had to have. He remembered,LOL, the look on his face was special, when I asked how come the sticker says black?
Long story short, it was not the salesman's fault. The ordering guy was so used to ordering Ruby Red/Black Interior that he carelessly input that, without double-checking the order.
Got my deposit back, re-ordered at another dealer, no problems after that.

Its only a truck at the end of the day but i can only imagine had bad you felt. Putting in a custom order is pretty special i think and to wait for that long and then find out they screwed up on such a crucial option is not nice. Mistakes are going to happen though and it sounds like the dealer is doing the best they can to fix it. I wish i could find the pic but there was a regular f150 with one of the front seats being a raptor seat from the factory, you'd think they'd be able to notice that lol
Whatever happened it had to have been at order entry. That error cannot happen on the factory floor. All parts come pre-sequenced for each assembly station. Sometimes the parts get out of sequence. But it can't happen for that many parts at so many different assembly points and end up exactly like a chrome package.
The truck with the Raptor seat was almost certainly a sequencing error. The person on the line grabs the next seat in line, which is supposed to be for the truck in front of him. The seat may have been given to him in the wrong order, he picked up the wrong one, or there was an "extra" that wasn't set aside. Maybe there was a Raptor just before that truck that had a defect that prevented the seat from being installed and the worker didn't set it aside. Sometimes they'll just throw their part into the car and let the repair shop at the end of the line take care of it.

My question is, if you go to the ford database what does the VIN search return? Chrome or Sport. If it returns Chrome I wouldn't accept the truck.
You are buying brand new, you deserve to get what you ordered, not a customized version. Which is what you would have if they change to the sport appearance but VIN still says Chrome.
Conversely if the VIN shows Sport and not Chrome well then that would be different in letting them change it.
Just my $.02
I get not wanting to be a dick but after all this isn't just a steak dinner at a restaurant. We are talking about 10s of thousands in investment.

"I finished the paperwork and went outside to perform the inspection". Why in the world would you not inspect the truck first? Yes, it was ordered incorrectly, but you failed to do your due diligence. No way in a hundred years would I let them replace half the truck to make it right. As stated, its forever not going to match in person what it states by the VIN. Hope they order you a new truck, but if they won't, thats on you for signing before even looking at it.
