Default F150 Tailgate Release Button

I realize I may get made fun of , but anyway here is my start on my own tailgate release button. Still needs some filling and texture. I knew when I started that the F250 insert was smaller then the F150 insert, so there would be a small gap that would need to be dealt with. Kind of stupid that Ford never made one like this for production.

That is cool. Ive only seen one F250 releasing their tailgate while backing up and didn't realize this was only an option for those trucks. Would come in handy to be able to do this.

OK so what are you doing with the e-brake release?

The button is nice but you can always just hit the remote release since you'll have the key with you in the truck. You should also put the light in the dash that alerts you when the tailgate is open. There is a thread on how to do it apparently most of the wiring is already there.

He has a 15 5.0. So he likely has the manual brake, right?

I assumed the pictures he posted were of his dash.

Yes, I have a 2015 with manual park brake.

I have seen the post about the tailgate agar notification, but if I recall, doesn’t work correctly on a 2015, but I will have to revisit that post.

Texture/Paint done. At this stage i was just checking everything out, so this is not the final headlight switch or dash knee panel that I was using.

Wiring everything up. I jumped power from the electric park brake connector that wasn't being utilized on my truck. You can also see my plastic "welding" on the panel I modified. First time I ever tried this, lol. All connections where soldered.
