Also, the Motorcraft pigtail part number that mates to the Tailgate Release button is WPT-1207 (5U2Z-14S411-ABC). The base connector is TE Part number 9-2208798-5. While I was trying decide what route I wanted to go on this connection, I got to looking at the connector on the Push Button Start switch and it uses the same connector I needed, so I was able to utilize the connector from my parts piece. For anyone else using this switch, I think it was pin 1 that was 12v, pin 2 ground, and pin 4 that sends a negative signal to the BCM at connector C2280B on pin 1 to pop the trunk.

Nice result. How about a parts listing including the paint you used?

In order to work, do you not need to tie the new switch into the Tailgate Release in the BCM, circuit CPL60, not just any power?

Sorry: Too slow posting.

The post that motivate me to do this was https://www.f150forum.com/f118/auto-...button-410613/. Member i8iridium posted about how all this works in that post. The trigger that goes to the BMC in a negative trigger, so the switch only has to have 2 wires, a ground and a wire going to the BMC, connector C2280B, on pin 1. That pin isn't utilized on the F150 and that connector is unpopulated by default. The 12v (the third pin) I pulled from the Electric Park Brake is only for the illumination of the button, for when the lights are on ( I should have specified that in my post above).

The parts I used where the following:
A F250 dash knee panel with a position for the tailgate release button and at least in my my case a position for adjustable pedals.
I also used a dash knee panel from a 2018 Expedition, but the F150 panel should be the same. I did this because I wasn't sure how things where going to go and I didn't want to screw my original up, LOL.
A tailgate switch. This came from my donor F250 panel.
A connector for the switch. This came from my donor, via the push button start connector. This connector is wired for 6 pins, only 3 of those are needed.
A pin for the BMC connector. This came from my donor, via one of the 3 pins/wire I pulled from the push button start connector.
1 can Krylon Satin Black paint. I used different spray distanced from my part to achieve the desired texture I was looking for (almost a dry spray).
Bondo flexible bumper repair kit. This was just something I've had for about 10 years from another project. Surprised it was still good. I would have probably tried something else had I not had it already.
Sandpaper and various shop tools. I used my Hakko soldering iron to do the "plastic welding" LOL

I purchased the knee panels off eBay, both in the correct ebony color of my interior. I watched for a while until I saw some at prices I would pay, because I didn't want to spend a lot not knowing how this would turn out. When I purchased them, I ended up with an extra headlight switch, 2 extra switches for adjustable pedals, 1 extra start switch, 1 extra electric park brake switch, plus I still have both of the panels minus the insert. All this will be relisted on eBay, as well as the wiring harness connectors that came with them. I should break even or even make some money off the whole project.

Something I discovered by accident. If you open the driver's door using your touchpad key code, and then immediately press the 5/6 button, the tailgate magically opens! This works or Lariat or higher. I also installed a tailgate damper on my base Lariat (500a) so when I open it like this, it doesn't just drop.

Big Fan of what @Wile_E_Coyote did. Wish I had thought of that before I went this route.

Took the FCIM from a 2019 F150 and gained one more slot for my Tailgate release switch & Rear LED Pods.

Used Motorcraft Switch SW-7721, Sanded off the OEM logos, spray painted the switch with ColorBond #338. Designed my new logos and found this guy that does laser engraving. et Voila

Well 2018 Raptor contacted me and was persistent, so now there are two of these modified knee panels in the wild, lol.

Default Pin out ?

I too have done this. I have a 2019 F150 Lariat 502A package with the e brake and adjustable petals currently in the panel.

I mounted my switch above the head light switch, opposite the start/stop switch, on the ledge. I do get the tailgate to open by grounding Pin 1 on the BCM connector C2280B, so I know that works.

Unfortunately, either I have a a bad switch or I connected my switch incorrectly.

Would you mind telling me again what pins on the switch you used, where you connected them to and the colors of the wires you used?

Thanks
