You may be right. My son has a master’s degree and bought his first truck with the 2.7 engine. I have some college and last summer bought my second 3.5.

I think it was more cafe regulations and pricing that removed 6.2 from the half tons. The 6.2 was quite an upcharge and fuel economy is lower. Still the current Super Duty gas engine, great motor! Love mine. Can’t bash the ecoboost it’s good in its own ways.

I’d imagine a 6.2L with dual overhead cams and direct injection like the new 5.0 would be an absolute monster.....oh well I’ll leave this 13th gen thread to you 13th geners lol.

I have a 3.5 Ecoboost. I'm a v8 guy but the used truck I wanted had the center console that had a column shifter so that's what I bought. Had a couple of issues early on here but I'm impressed with the 3.5.

The 3.3 just replaced the NA 3.5, left that one out.

BTW 2.7 here in my big 2017 sedan with a giant trunk that also fits stuff from Home Depot.

I was always a V8 guy, but I was impressed with Ford's effort to come up with something different to try and be more efficient. I bought a 2012 3.5L Ecoboost new and it more than proved itself. I did have to have the turbos replaced under warranty, but I believe you have to give them a chance to work out some bugs. When I traded for my 2018 I went with the 2.7L with the same mindset. Although I thought a lot about sticking with the 3.5L or even going to the 5.0L. In the end the 2.7L rates about the same as my 2012 did in HP and Torque. The only thing I lost was about 3,000 lbs towing that I didn't really need anyway. I'm very happy with the 2.7L and I love the increase in gas mileage over the 3.5L about 4-5mpg on average.

5L here, came from the 5.4L. 6.2L was a beast of a motor, father in law's has in his truck.

I have the 2018 5.0 rattler edition,
I bought this engine over the 3.5 eco because of the sound.
Sounded good stock, installed a Borla S type and sounds absolutely awesome now.( the Borla also helps to drown out all the unsettling noises that Ford says are normal )

Not knocking the turbo motors, I think they are pretty great, but damn this 5.0 sounds good.
Every morning I can't wait to start this thing !

I told this story back in '15, when I first test drove a 2.7 F150 thinking it was some kind of sick joke, and Ford had lost their mind.

Had the truck for a weekend, and I don't think I stopped giggling for the first hour, and repeated out loud to myself several times during the test drive; "are you kidding me!!"

On my second 2.7 F150 since that fateful day. Absolutely still in love with this engine! Checks every box for me, and makes me smile every day.

Similar story here. I just couldn't resist the allure of the Coyote's howl. I've only had it a few weeks and haven't done any major mods yet but exhaust will probably be one the first. Mine has the 3.73:1 axle ratio with rear E-locker. Runs more like a bear than a coyote. And, yes, I did vote.
