Default E locker question

Quick E locker question. If I activate it and it shuts off above 25 mph, if I slow to below 25, will it lock again? In other words does it stay locked if I leave the locker button out?

It’s my understanding that yes, it will lock back in. I’m not sure if I have tried it yet though.

In my experience, yes it does lock back in once you slow back down.

This is valuable info! There's so much info on here it makes my head spin but since we're talking about e lockers, what is the general best practice when using E lockers? I'm a total n00b in this truck world, still learning and this is my first 'real' truck. I'm also new to towing trailers thus I got the XLT for this main application and thus the question when to and not to use e lockers

p.s. if I'm hijacking this thread feel free to point me elsewhere

Only meant for straight line tho....turning with it on not so good

So is this meanto for the extra umph w/ 4x4 if you're stuck in a rut?

Stuck in a rut, snow, boat launch, wet grass you don't want to wreck, etc.
Not meant to be used in daily driving situations.


**Some guys have them on 2x4 trucks which makes the use of the locker more useful

Okay so start w/ 2x4 (rear only) if unsuccessful then add e-lockers, if unsuccessful engage 4hi? I just got done reading the 'why do I even need 4x4' thread and it appears most folks w/ 2x4 buys the e-lockers over 4x4 option. My dealer walked me through the options and told me that the e-lockers are for folks that just want's to burn out and show off lol.

I use my 4 wheel drive before I use the e-lock. But then I am using it in snow. I can get rolling without any spinning because the front end is helping pull you along with the extra weight in the front end. Personally I wish they still had the old limited slip axles of years ago. When I bought the truck I thought the e-lock would be close to what the limited slip axle was, but its not. If I knew what I do now, I would have added trucks that didn't have it to my list.
Of course some people will disagree with it, but everyone has an opinion.
You will learn over time what works. Just remember don't be making turns on bare roads with either 4wheel or the e-lock. The owners manual also says all this

I am more of the 4x4 before locker, but that is my preference.....as noted earlier you don't want to be using the locker if turning (at least on hard surfaces) so depending on your use really.

I have only been in the spot where I have had to use my locker once......I use my 4x4 half the winter lol
