To get what you want on it.
Not what somebody else wants you to have.

For the record: I've been driving my 15 Lariat Sport since Dec 23.
I ordered mine on 8/8 exactly the way i wanted it. Cotus kept bouncing me around...and the dealer and salesman were not being helpful. I kicked them to the curb....cancelled order...got my deposit back ....did a search and found my truck's twin (color and all) ten miles away. Drove there the same day and bought it. 502A Magnetic Sport, S Crew.. roof, tech pkg, pwr boards etc.
The reason i posted this is because I'm seeing many posts where people are STILL ordering trucks without knowing if that dealer has allocation.

You were lucky to find it in stock.
I check everyday, and there is nothing even close to My orderered platinum 4x2 Screw 6.5 bed anywhere.

You were lucky, the first thing my salesman did was check a 500 mile area to see if someone already had a truck like I wanted in stock. Looked at me and said, " Your correct it will need to be ordered", a lot of us no so much.

My dealer still doesn't have an allocation for me but there was no mention of that when I ordered almost 5 weeks ago. I made the mistake of saying I wanted the truck delivered sometime in April, the earlier the better. He tells me "no problem". But the dealer took that to mean he could use his limited allocations on something more important than me. I guess that's fine to a point.

But what's happened is his expected allocation has slipped again, from early January to the first of February to early February. The end result is I'll be lucky to receive it in April. I'm not really worried yet but he has my non-refundable deposit (all vehicle deposits I've seen in Canada are technically non-refundable - that's what it will say on the sales form) so I wonder what stops him or any other dealer from delaying an order indefinitely? I cancel the order and he gets 2 grand regardless?

Some dealers practice ethics, and I doubt this would have to go very far up the Ford food chain to become a big issue. Dealerships can be pretty unethical and in fact they profit from it, but they can't blatantly steal from you unless you let them.

I'm sure there is something legally that states that they have to build your vehicle or make a reasonable effort to do so within a reasonable timeframe.

I hear people in this forum saying that there is tons of dealer stock! Not sure where they live but I'm in upstate NY and I've only seen a few badly configured XLT's an one Lariet spot at dealers. I have yet to see one on the road yet. I'm sure that this will change soon. When I was looking in Dec they searched and there was nothing that would pass NYS emissions that interested me. Therefore I orders. If I was gonna start looking now maybe I would find what I wanted. And yes, it was as much about what I didn't want to pay for as well as what I wanted.
