I built my truck and searched the inventory on Ford's site and found exactly ONE that was a match for what I wanted. It was at the dealer where I bought mine from and the only reason they have it was because when the salesman ordered mine, he ordered the exact same truck for their inventory.

If you are willing to budge on color & options, sure its easy. If you are dead set on what you want exactly....good luck finding it. The max tow + tow mirrors alone probably eliminates 98% of dealer stock.

I'll just never understand ordering and waiting for the most mass produced vehicle on the planet.

You seem to be missing the point that a lot of us want a very specific truck that we weren't able to locate at a nearby dealer. If you aren't in a hurry, why not get exactly what you want?

Some people don't care as much - if it is close enough they are fine. I keep my vehicles a long time, so I have no problem waiting a few months to get exactly what I wanted.

I think that's why I may not understand. I don't keep my vehicles longer than 2 years. My 2011 seems to be the only one I've kept for two years, others didn't last 6 months to a year.

My current truck is almost 10 years old. I plan on keeping the F150 for 12. So yep, with time frames like that I want to get exactly what I want.

I get A Plan, so I prefer to order and pay only for what I want. Mind you, I am already forced to order packages to get some features I want.

I try not to complain about the wait times (out loud). I agree, consumers must educate themselves, and dealership employees should be honest. I am not saying under promise and over deliver, can we please dispose of the smoke and mirrors please?

From another standpoint I don't understand is people order plain Jane trucks all day long, then sit and complain all day every day. It's not a new z06 vette or the new 991 targa.

Also, not everyone lives where we live. There are about 10 huge Ford dealerships within a 50 mile radius. Some of these folks live in smaller areas with smaller dealerships and less allocation, therefore less options to choose from.

To get what you want on it.
Not what somebody else wants you to have.
