Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
I’m running iOS 11.1.2 which I believe is the latest and also have Siri enabled. I don’t see any specific CarPlay settings to enable.
How to make sure CarPlay is enabled with both your iPhone 5 and higher and Sync3. Doesn't matter if it is Sync software version 2.0 or higher, same process.
1. Go to settings>General>CarPlay. Make sure that CarPlay is not disabled.
2. Plug phone into usb port in your vehicle.
3. Turn Sync3 system on and go to settings>Apple CarPlay settings
4. See your phone name and touch it. Make sure that Apple CarPlay is not disabled.
5. If you do not see your phone when connected via usb, then either you have a bad cable, the usb hub is installed incorrectly or you do not have version 2.0 or higher of the Sync3 software.

Hello,
I accidentally deleted my Apple Carplay Auto Preference on my Sync 3. I was trying to remove my old phone and I click delete. Now I don't have it on my Sync 3 settings, only the android Auto. How can I put it back? I was trying to connect my new Phone which is Iphone X. It wont connect to carplay but I can use Siri and play songs. So I figured I delete my old phone in the settings but I end up deleting the whole icon. Thank you for the answer.

I think you need to go into your bluetooth settings on sync and forget the old phone if it is not already gone.
Then you need to turn bluetooth on on your new phone and in sync search for devices and select your new phone.
From there you should be able to figure out the rest.
Hopefully that resolves your issue.
Taking a stab at this:
