Based on your sig as a Ford employee working on Synch I'll take your word for it that the version 3.0 updates in circulation and being installed may not be official, but they sure look official and seem to be genuine.
My 18 came with 2.3 and I did the 3.0 update last weekend without incident. Everything seems to work with no discernible downside.
So you're saying somebody packaged something that may have been a beta and is distributing it as the real deal?

I think the term 'mish mash' is misleading, I suspect it's a leak of the latest beta or at least one of the newer betas. Certainly not an official release, since it didn't come from Ford. But most certainly a Ford beta, no reason for anyone else to be writing code for Sync.
Downloaded Sync3 upgrade to my computer so that I can connect my Android. Unzipped the download package onto a formatted flashdrive. Inserted flashdrive into USB port and get message "device uses too much power!" All I could think was "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" Any tips on what went wrong? I followed the download instructions on the website.
Ok, I re-formatted flashdrive with exFat. Downloaded zipped software to flashdrive according to instructions. Inserted into usb port and flashes a quick message "indexing 2-27-2017" and nothing after that being inserted for over 20 minutes. Never saw "download completed or anything after that. Has anybody gotten this?
Did you unzip the files on the drive? When it says that it's indexing, that means it's trying to find music files on the drive.

Basically. I don't want people to get the idea this is an actual Ford release as it seems like some think it may be. Some enterprising individual seems to have combined some files from different times and shared it. Naturally one of the things that won't work properly in all cases because of this is Voice. Because, why not.
I've seen a handful of folks so far not in North America install this too and bork their system as they're using wrong stuff.

Sorry but voice is one of the biggest improvments on my truck after using this 3.0 unofficial release. Voice was so bad before I gave up and only used AA voice command. Now it seems to work great.

The files on my PC show (zipped) and it displays the three files needed to download to flash drive.
I exfat two flash drives and downloaded the files on both of them and one flash drive displayed "index unknown" and then "index ended." The other displayed "device detected" and nothing.
Well I went ahead and did the update from 2.0 to 3.0 from the mustang forum linked in this post some where. It took just about 15 minutes in total. I haven't had a chance to look through if any noticeable changes. I am on the NON NAV unit used a 32g thumb drive v2.0 formatted in FAT32. I'll have some time tomorrow to see how fluid it is switching from AA and sync also the steering wheel controls etc..

Glad to hear what's there is working well. Curious though. What wasn't working prior? Feel free to shoot me a PM, always like getting feedback.

I cant speak for KWS but for me the fact that V3.o now responds to more logically stated commands rather than having to remember a less logical format pre-programmed greatly reduces the number of times I have to cancel and start because when it got what was to the system a "wrong" command, it would take for ever parroting back the commands it wanted to hear and laboriously going through about 10 options for what seemed like an eternity while I was cursing it. Yes, not unlike the Scotsman in the elevator!! V3.0 has done wonders for my blood pressure!!!
I actually saw the issue stated well in another thread " The timing for the speech recognition sucks _____. The intervals between query and response need to be tightened up considerably. In fact, why can't the system be listening for human speech while it is asking? DSP filtering/masking is cheap these days."
And if I can now override with Forscan the restriction on inputting data when in D then that is also a major improvement in my mind. I have had multiple vehicles with Nav and on all of them, including my wife's currents Macan Turbo, you only have to accept the warning message to allow you to enter programming. This F150 is the first I have come across that specifically stops you!!

Did you unzip the files when you copied to your flash drive, or just copy the zipped folder?
