Finally got an over the air message that I was downloading system updates. I checked this screen a little later and the progress bar was gone. Must have finished downloading at the grocery store. Will update when I see that it's actually updated
I am thinking of buying the HC3Z-19A387-B updated module. I have a couple of questions if anyone knows the answer to before buying it from eBay.
I have a 2016 ford f-150 XLT 302a
1.) When I log into my fordowner account it says I have the most up to date version of sync 3 which it states is 2.0? Will the apple CarPlay work with version 2.0? Or do I need the 2.2 version?
2.) If it doesn't work on version 2.0, what is the best way to get 2.2v? I heard ford released it to the public, I'm not great with bootleg/usb stuff so should I just take it to the dealership to update?
3.) Why is Ford not paying for the updated module and installation. It seems crazy to me that this is not covered under warranty!?
If you could find a 2016 piece of Ford advertising that states Sync3 with Carplay, you could have have a case. I swear I saw it advertised like that.. but now they went back and added those 3 secret little words.. "with hardware upgrade". I tried to get my dealership to pay for my hub, but they actually laughed at me.

It will work. Don't need 2.2. Not even sure what the improvement is over 2.0.
Ford has stated 2.0 units shipped from the factory are only upgrade-able to 2.2 by the dealer at this time and do not have user updates available. Just passing on the official word.
Does anyone know, is Ford covering the 2.0 to 2.2 under warranty? I read on a bulletin posted a few days ago that Ford was not covering the 2.0 to 2.2 under warranty. I just want a confirmation before I go to my dealer.
