I have a 2013 FX4 with the component inputs, SD card, and usb in my center console. Is there a "no-cut" harness that I can get to connect the new USB hub for carplay?
Is the power connector only needed for the leds?

No, other wise the hub will not have enough power. Pretty easy to tap into the two wires that are right there.

Hub Install Complete
The plastic tools are not strong enough. Save your money and just use two butter knifes on each end. Popped right out. Changing cables was easy.

SYNC 3
Version 1.0 - Initial Release Version - Does not contain Android Auto/CarPlay
Version 1.1 – Early update for Version 1.0 to correct minor bug issues
Version 2.0 - Only available on late build models of the 2016 F-150 (roughly July 2016). Version 2 does contain Android Auto (fully functional) and CarPlay (non functional). This is also standard on early build 2017 models. There is no official 2.0 update that I know of.
Version 2.2 – This was initially released as an update for some 2016 Lincoln models in Dec. 2016 As of writing this on 3/26/17 I am not aware of it being officially released for updating any Ford models. In Feb. 2017 I noticed that most Fords/Lincolns are being shipped from the assembly line with 2.2 in them. Version 2.2 does contain CarPlay/Android Auto.
You are able to check your version by going into the General icon and then About menu item. The version is listed at the top and not to be confused with gracenote or navigation version.
For those that have a 2016 Ford F-150 with V2.0 in it, the reason CarPlay does not work is because a CarPlay compliant USB hub is not installed in the vehicle. Hubs GJ7Z-19A387-B (white backlighting) and HC3Z-19A387-B (blue backing) are CarPlay compliant USB hubs that are a direct fit into the 2016 F-150. After some experimenting, the hub can be removed with a basic plastic trim tool without having to take anything else apart. Use a thin plastic pry tool and slide it under each side (short sides of the hub) and give it a little twist to get that side to pop out and then do the other end. You may need to hold the already released side out as it will want to pop back in. Make sure not to stress the wiring harnesses connected to the usb hub.
If further information pertaining to this topic is received I will attempt to update this original thread. I would like to ask that opinions about Apple versus Android be kept out of this and the keep the topic on task.

I will not post links to the DL any SYNC3 update files as those seem to be constantly changing. You are on your own for that. There are separate update files for non-nav versus nav. No you can't add factory nav to a non nav unit this way.

Just had the USB hub swapped out and as soon as I fired off CarPlay everything started working as planned. I now have navigation whereas my truck didn't come with it. So far very happy and only wish is that it accepted WAZE instead of the silly Imaps which pales in comparision

Is there a way to downgrade from 2.2 back to 2.0? I'm not 100% sure but the 2.2 update seems to have more connection issues via Bluetooth with my iPhone. I'd like to go back to 2.0 to see if that is the case or not. If it turns out that it's all in my head then I could always go back up to 2.2.
Any help?

If you have already upgraded to Sync 3 then 4DTech has a no-cut pigtail for your old hub. It's $59.
