Hey, another quick question, what does hard reset do (power button and next track same time for 6 seconds)? Say you have upgraded to vs 2.2, would it set it back to 1, or keep it at 2.2? Just wondering in case something goes wrong with updating, if there is a way to go back.

I believe its just a hard reboot like a computer. Should keep all software the same but allow all hardware to power off fully then boot back up. Software should remain v2.2

So my update via USB went fine from v1.1 to v2.2 and I changed out the USB hub to what the dealer said is the right one for carplay GC3Z-19A387-C, but I don't have Apple carplay when I connect my iPhone 7. Is that the right hub? I'm thinking the dealer got this wrong. It is the Blue light version looks identical and has a different part number than the original. Thoughts?

Another successful upgrade from 1.0 to 2.2 and new USB hub
I confirm there is a newer version in the ford binary files. If you open the zip file there are 5 files vs 4 in the earlier version (nav). Not sure what the difference is...I ended up using the old Nav version for my upgrade. I wonder if I can/should overwrite it with the newer version?
Not overwhelmed by CarPlay, I might turn it off

Same thing... new version just generates a VIN specific XML file at the end of the update to send to syncmyride.com to show that you have done the update to 2.2 to ford.

Using WiFi or FordPass App pretty much does the same thing.

Plus you cannot even upload the file yet as ford hasn't made 2.2 available yet to have that section appear on the website.

But then again, I think Toyota was still putting cassette decks in their vehicles thru the mid 2000's, so I could just be naive.
I did some testing and the 16's wifi is only 2.4ghz, no 5ghz are present or maybe active under 2.2. It does do 802.11n, but Apple's spec's they want to see use of 5Ghz, due to better connections and less congested airwaves (prone to interference). So far Apple has been very slow in approving manufacture's support for wifi CarPlay. I would guess we might never see it, sort of like the need to replace the hub to add CarPlay support. Ford wasn't on the wagon yet, so there wasn't much foresight for support put into the hardware. Toyota has yet to sign up for either CarPlay or AA. They are going their own path with Smartdevicelink.

Verify your download is correct by going here: http://onlinemd5.com/
Select "SHA-256" then drag and drop the downloaded file onto the window. Give it a couple minutes to calculate the hash and compare it to the value in red above. if it matches, you're good!

now someone give me a link to the non-nav...

Edit: I have to apologize... my file server is TERRIBLY slow right now and I don't know why...

So this is where I got the upgrade (page 49) - decided to go for it, and it worked perfectly. (have W/Nav) It took a while for the stock Nav to start up, I eventually turned off the truck waited again a little, and then tried. Then everything started up perfectly. Stock Nav works great, so does SiriusXM and everything else.

Android Auto works perfectly too, so we'll see how everything goes.

Sidenote - I have Gracenote Version 1.1.1.806 now, where I used to have 1.1.1.615. So I guess that updated too?
And also, my Navigation Map Version is NA, where I used to have one. Not sure what that means either, Nav seems to work fine.

Edit!! My mistake, Navigation version is NA 1 14, which is the same as I had before, so that did not change. So all Good.

Advice - follow instructions to the T. and be patient, Thanks Noggin01 - you Rock

I purchased and installed part #GJ7Z-19A387-B. Phones still will NOT charge with this hub installed and CarPlay does NOT work either. I did a Factory Restore after the install and still no go. I have tried the following Apple devices:
iPhone 7+
iPhone 6
iPhone 6+
iPad Mini 4 - Wanted to see if the device would charge
iPad 2 - Wanted to see if the device would charge

What am I missing here?

thanks in advance,

Hello All,

I just wanted to close the loop on the issue I was having in case anybody else is having this same issue. Long story short, the communication cable between the USB Hub and the Sync system was faulty. The dealer replaced the cable, I got the truck back, installed the new USB Hub, CarPlay works like a charm!!

Thanks all for the helpful posts.
