Default Crash bars

For those of you that have a wheel/tire set up that hits the crash bars, what are you doing about it. Mine hit, but there is no way I am getting those bolts out. There frame or something hindering them from coming all the way out..

There are 3 things you can do. 1) Cut them out (not recommended for you and your passengers safety). 2) Spread the crash bars using a porta-power (most recommended if altering crash bars). 3) Swap the fronts from side to side which is what I did, and did a write up on it (https://www.f150forum.com/f118/crash...arance-363627/).

There's a fourth thing you can do. Run with a smaller wheel/tire combo and don't sacrifice safety.

Thanks, but if you want to send me the $2400 I spent, then that would be great. I only went to 295/70/18 which is only 34x11.5, so they are not that much bigger.. Thanks for your input though....

1) Agree, not recommended.

2) Be careful when you're doing it on the 2018's, as the front bumper support bracket is now only 1/4" away from the crash bar. Fvierra27 spread them on his 2018 and didn't report any issues but he also didn't say if he even noticed the bars were that close to the bumper support or how close they were when he was done (https://www.f150forum.com/f118/35s-2...atinum-411304/).

3) Not sure if the swap would still be possible, as the crash bar is so close to a bumper support now. Also, on the 2018's they now weld the nuts to the bars, so you'll have to likely cut off the nuts and the bolt heads.

Since 0 offset is approximately equivalent to running 1.75" spacers on stock wheels, you might check the spacer topics on here and see if you can find someone running 1.75" spacers. See how they handled it and it'll be roughly the same for you.

18x9 +18 and I'm running 305/65/18 KO2's.

With crash bars and lots of clearance at both left and right steering stops.

He's right though. Any of the other options results in an untested assembly that likely performs worse than the system as designed. As for the money you spent, makes a good argument for doing research before spending the money.

Don't forget to disclose your modification to the safety system when you sell or trade your truck.
