Check engine light...AGAIN
2015 F150 XLT 2.7L Eccoboost. Purchased this beauty in March of this year and CEL went on a day later. Since then, four more times:
1. March 15-Dealer performed TSB# 15-0171
2.May 7- Dealer replaced and programmed Gateway Module
3. May 17- Dealer replaced Purge Valve
4. June 1- P0442, EVAP system leak detected (small leak) Performed troubleshooting with WD40 and fuel spout and AutoZone tech cleared CEL.
5. Two days ago- CEL back on. DANG
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love this truck, hate that flippin CEL.

I do have the carfax that shows no issues and maintenance at 5,000 7,000, 10,000 16,000, and 22,000 miles. It is at 30,000 miles now.
just got back from dealer, code is same P0442. They were swamped so I will take it back. They cleared the CEL and I will see if/when it pops back up.

Do you have a cap? or is your filler Capless... ... ... If you have a cap : Vasoilene... Put some V, on the seal of your gas cap.
If not... then you have to find the Evap leak! Simple as that. You have a crack somewhere in the system.

I put even money there is a loose line or a crack in the canister on the evap system. It does happen on occasion.
worse yet your dealer is supposed to do a pressure test for it or at least that's one of the steps in the troubleshooting.
few questions - does this happen to come on after say ___ tank of gas. As in, you clear the code, fill up tank, drive around. neighborhood of 1/2 tank - bong CEL.
Or does it come on like a few minutes after you clear the code regardless of driving condition?
when the dealer did the TSB did they replace the Foam gasket on the fuel door? Do you know?

Prof. Wiz., I have capless.
Napalm, Doe's occur after refueling, (days), never occurs immediately after clearing code. The paperwork on TSB performed shows :
Performed TSB# 15-0171 with one-piece driveshaft, removed fuel tank and replaced Evap. system blocking valve
parts showed:
valve asy,
hose-connect
bolt

Yeah so on a limb here. you fill up today, drive around for a day or 2 - neighborhood of 1/2 tank - right after start up - ding ding CEL, whatever. Code is for EVAP leak or Evap Purge Fail, pure guess.
While you drive around - as you work though the tank there are moments when the system activates the purge solenoid to vent the evap trap back into the tank stream. IIRC it's based on fuel load in tank and I want to say it trips on 1/2 tank and then again on 1/4 tank but I'm going from memory here and I've drunk since them. The purpose of the system is to prevent gas laden air being ejected from the car, and far more importantly to keep a pressure in the gas tank to help prevent the wicking of water that Ethanol laced gas does over time. I know everyone points to the evil emissions portion of the evap system, but it actually also helps with the ethanoled gasoline BS we are fed.
ANywho - when they did the TSB I suspect they either didn't get the evap line on all the way or they didn't get it a clamp on it like it should. one of the other. Absolute worst case - they merfed the canister when it was removed for the tsb.
REGARDLESS - per TSB instructions they mucked with the system to do the TSB and didn't check it fully - your issues occured after their work - they need to test it fully and fix it.
Note this is sight unseen, across some wires and some light beams. So I might be wrong, but I'd sure as hell tell that dealer service department what for - or go somewhere else. Good luck, I hate when shops don't bother to fully go though the trouble shooting guidance for a light. Pressure test would have found this - I bet they don't have the test equipment and god forbid they get under the truck and look at the lines.
