Default Bumper Rust

So I was washing my truck today, 2018 with sport painted bumpers, when I noticed a handful of rock chips in the bumper that were showing rust already.

Trying to decide if I should:1. repaint the bumper then 3m film it 2. Leave it until it's worse 3. Linex the front and rear bumpers and the rockers all the way down each side.

And I suppose option 4 for those who know me: Trade it and get a new one.

Me personally I would get the paint match linex applied. In my opinion that stuff looks good and you could also give it a bit of a 2 tone if you wanted since you mention getting the rockers sprayed anyways.

Same thing here, six winter months since I bought it, and dozens of rock chips.
Wish I would have listened to guys on the forum and clear wrapped the front end when I took delivery.

My WTF, is the glancing chips on the a pillars and door down to bare aluminum. This paint is microscopically thin and not durable at all!

As much as I like how my painted bumpers look, I sure miss the chrome bumpers. No maintenance with those. Mine are beat to heck front and rear

Get it repaired, but have the shop use armor coat instead of clear coat. That's what I did to my 2010. Check it out https://www.f150forum.com/f38/2010-v...143677/index3/

You do great work man! Couple of questions for ya... how much stronger is the armor coat? Would it hold up pretty good to consistent abuse from rocks? Ballpark what would it cost a guy to get this done to the rear bumper assuming I’d need the new ends?

I'll look into that. Or I'll make an hour drive and have you do it. Lol

Hard to say. The kit is about $180. Then you'd have to pay labor to have someone spray it. It is difficult to spray. I believe I used to get 2 labor hours to spray a bumper. So if we were to do it at my shop it would be $3-350ish

Held up great. Traded my 10 in back in September. So I think I had the stuff in there for like a year and a half at that point. They evaluated the truck for like an hour. Kept asking me how I didn't have any chips on the grille and bumpers. I mean nothing. I barely had any in the hood and fenders either. I didn't use armor coat on those. I just put the proper film build on with ppg products
