Default BuiltRight Tech Panels

I installed a new plate from BuiltRight last night in my center console. It's a pretty easy and common mod. I haven't seen many posts about these, so I thought I'd start a thread.

Post pictures of your installs. Plates, panels, whatever. Let's see all of the different ways people are using them.

I watched your video earlier today, nice job! I wonder if there is a way for us to add more tension to the spring. I have had mine all apart before to add a leather cover to match my Katzkins but didn't pay much attention to the spring and if giving it a few extra turns was feasible.

That's a pretty slick setup. What did you use to attach the holster and do you think it's secure enough to keep your handgun in place on really rough roads with big bumps?

I do have a console safe installed but going by your pic I think I would still have enough clearance.

You're probably right. I'm hoping that's not the case because that sound's like a recipe for disaster if the ride gets too rough. Looks like there's plenty of room for the gun/holster to pop out and start moving around.

Looks like he is experienced enough to not have the magazine engaged in the firearm

I was thinking about that too. I'm not sure if there's much to do about spring tension, but I was thinking about a counterweight. The weight of the lid isn't the problem, it's the center of gravity. If you epoxied a block of aluminum or something down low on the inside of the lid it might help with moving the CoG.

Like he said, it's just an IWB holster with a clip. It's NOT secure enough for real use, this was just for fitment and proof of concept. I would want an actual MOLLE holster.

I've thought about console safes too, but the lid on these consoles locks, and it's my opinion that the locking lid is enough to deter most thieves of opportunity, and any thief with enough forethought to break a locked console lid probably also has something to break open the console safe.

Yep! Obviously saftied for fit-testing. This holster won't be a permanent fit. In fact it's already removed, it was just to fit test it.

That's a good idea. I think I'll do that. They started offering them in a kit with RAM mounts because that's such a popular option.

What else do people mount up there?

Here is my plan iPhone mount for driver, go pro middle mount and iPad mount for passenger but I think the iPad will block the hvac vent.

People on YouTube have mounted cb radio, hand held GPS, really the jeep community has a lot on this type of stuff
