I just saw where a guy used a velcro tech panel on his headliner. I may grab one, I get tired of having my sunglasses in my center console and with a XL truck, there is no overhead options. This looks promising. A small flashlight, folding knife, sunglasses, 9mm magazine, multi-tool would all fit up there nicely.

A little of the thread topic, but since everyone seemed to be interested in mounting a pistol. There is an easier solution. Get any IWB holster with a belt clip and clip it below the steering column. It puts it in perfect reach. It isn’t concealed enough to leave it there should you leave your vehicle unattended. I have mine on my person u less I am going on a long trip.

I use a brand called concealment king. It is just a cheap one I picked up at a gun show.

Be sure it is IWB or else your hand orientation will be reversed unless you use a style like the one I pictured which is ambidextrous.

i can fit pistols from the full sized 1911 to smaller pistols like the P365(pictured).

I use a 3 dial locking box that is anchored with 4 bolts through the bottom of the center console. It would have to be smashed to get it open as there is no way to gain access with leverage. But then again, I don't leave the truck without it. Add the locking lid of the console and I would say its pretty secure.

I haven't had any problems with retention. No problems on or Offroad.

Until you learn that you can pick those tumbler locks with a small shim in about 10 seconds.

But, your logic is the same as mine. It's enough to stop a thief of opportunity which is 99% of them.

I agree too. I do some locksmithing on the side and I will tell you 99% of locks are only keep honest people out. Criminals are opportunists and typically won't take the time to deal with a box like that....they are looking for a quick smash and grab.

Honestly, its more of a "transport" box and I rarely lock it. If I leave the truck, its on me. I just don't like the magnets or holsters to where it could bounce around in the event of a crash.

Would be nice if there was an accessory to make the console more secure. Like a reinforced metal frame, latches, and hinges for the lid. I've balked at putting a safe in the console because everything I've seen eats up a lot of space and/or is difficult to access in a hurry. And I don't want anything that's visible from outside. My safe is under the seat and cabled to the seat frame. I don't like it, but I didn't have to hack into anything and my console is still fully useable...and I seem to use the console a lot.

I feel the same about taking up the console space. I use min continuously and I feel it would be a pain to have to deal with the hinged lid on the safe every time I needed change.
