BLIS replacement
Quick question: If a BLIS module off a 2016 is being replaced due it being faulty with one off of a 2018, does the new require reprogramming of any kind or would it be a straight drop in?
I think Ford is plug and play with the same part number - The Dealer will have to calibrate - What has to happen is the truck has to be driven a certain way at a certain speed for certain distance with clearly defined lane markers until it re-sets.
that’s for lane keep not blis. Blis just needs the truck peramitors put in it with the vin and it will work. All I did when I added blis to my truck was get the as built for another of the same size that had blis and put it in with my vin and it worked right away
I have a 2015 F150 with BLIS, the passenger side tail light had water intrusion and I started getting the Blind Spot Fault and Cross Traffic Fault. Mechanic quoted $1300 for parts. I found a used tail light with BLIS module, complete working system on EBay, believing that the VIN number could be programed to match my truck, I bought it. Local mechanic tried it and could not get the VIN to program. So I took it to the dealership and they ended up spending a bunch of time on it charged me $140 and could not get it to program, they wanted to reschedule for a different day and charge me more money so they could research it further, they had no answers for me. Are these Modules a one time use, I mean once programmed with a VIN from the factory they cant be transferred/rewritten to a different truck? Are the people I am using doing something wrong. The Ebay Seller was working with me for a bit and talked about sending out a different module once I gave him my old part number he ghosted me, no response in weeks. This Ebay seller doesn't take returns. Any Help?

How do I know I am getting the right adapter, Isee lots of them when I google search and they are way cheaper the $100. Also I am nervous if my mechanic couldn't get it to program and the dealership couldn't, I am not sure i am going to be able to
3. A Compatible Adapter (the adapter needs to be able to access both HS-CAN & MS-CAN for access to all of the vehicle’s modules). All of the adapters below are confirmed to work.
DO NOT purchase any adapters branded as “FORScan” and “FORScan Pro” adapters - they are cheap counterfeits and have no endorsement by FORScan.
USB:
- OBDLink EX USB Auto-Switch (recommended) <Link removed for this post> - ** if you have a 2021+ F150 use this adapter **

As for programming, hundreds of people have used FORScan to program various modules in their vehicles. I added BLIS to my 2016 and purchased used taillights and modules. I was able to program the BLIS modules with FORScan. Nothing against the dealer or mechanic, they are doing what they are trained to do.... they use the software (IDS in the case of a dealership) and it works or it doesn't. They know nothing more about programming the module. (would be a different story if it were the engine, they certainly understand the internal workings of an engine, but not an electronic module) I'veheard the dealer has to manually input all the module values by hand with IDS. With FORScan, you can write the entire module, or line by line, and it can load/save entire module data. I don't know what else to tell you. If you purchase the recommended adapter, it is listed at $59.95 on Amazon, FORScan is free. How much have you spent on the mechanic and other methods? If you have a Windows laptop, it becomes a pretty small investment. FORScan is pretty easy to use - again, refer to the tutorial in the thread I listed. I'm confident you can do this yourself. If you should run into an issue, there are a lot of smart people on this forum who are willing to help. If you use FORScan, and look at all the things you can do with it, you'll likely find other changes you want to make.... FORScan is addicting!
Either way you go, good luck.
