Default Battery issue?

F150 XLT FX4 screw. Battery (flooded type) replaced by ford dealership 1/22 and reset. Truck had 45,000 miles at replacement. Today l get the message “system off to save battery”. “Please turn ignition off or start engine”.
Leaving early tomorrow for 3 weeks traveling west. Do we need to go back to the dealership before we leave? Any suggestions? Thanks

Likely just a little low on charge from sitting or short trips. If you are going to run on the highway for a few hours that should charge it up.

Thanks 52merc. We have 12 hours driving to Colorado Springs tomorrow. If that doesn’t charge it I’m not sure what would. We figure on about 6,000+ miles this trip. 😎
Thanks

Colorado Springs? Are you coming through Kansas? Can I catch a lift? I will put on clean socks so I don't stink to bad. Thanks man.

Has it been sitting a decent amount? mostly city driving? over the last few months? If yes, I agree with Merc52, you'll be fine. But if you have had it on the hwy 20+ miles within the last week and you got this, I'd have it checked.

If you have battery issues the 2nd day, replace it while on the road. The parts store will probably do it for you if you aren't able to do so yourself.

I'm sure you didn't mean to imply you were covering 6,000 miles in one day. ha Yeah, if not charged the following day then for your own peace of mind, a new battery would be ideal.
Maybe you can call ahead and have the store charge the battery that you purchase so it's 100% fresh when you arrive.

Batteries are not a dealership inly item... if it is warrantied then fine, but to jeopardize the trip, just spend the hundred-bucks.

Ford is one of the brands (not sure if others are similar) that don't do well with short trips. The battery management system only charges when it feels the need (duh), but if you only drive short distances, the time charging is outweighed by the demand while on the short trip.

Well, here is a case of no info provided and all guessing.
Has the truck been driven short trips and times?
Has the radio or lights been left on too long?
Has the voltage been read so something about what the state of charge is beside the dash notification?
Is the Alternator recharging at s sufficient level to recharge in a reasonable amount of time?
Has the battery been overcharged and boiled the water out of the electrolyte to a low level from a faulty Alternator?
I sure would want to know these things for the trip you will be taking.
Good luck.

If you sit with your car at ACC for a long time, you will get that warning, whether the battery is new or not. That's to keep you from killing the battery. If you let it sit longer, it will cut power until you turn the key back to off.
